Made a deal with ranch cowboy to cut and deliver 1 cord of mesquite delivered to our camp (5-6 miles of 2 track ranch road to get to camp) Does this look like a cord? I think it's short a little. Worth $200?

Hard to tell from the pile, but a cord is 4ft x 4ft x 8ft. So if it stacks to those dimensions it may be okay.
But looks a little short just from the picture.

Looks a little short to me too. If anyone is interested, I am clearing one of my pastures and you are welcome to come cut and take all the free mesquite firewood you want.

Hard to tell with those smaller sticks in there. Considering the not so easy delivery, I'd probably call it close enough for government work and let it lie. Probably not that many folks would do that delivery.

Pretty close but $200 for mesquite that's not even split seems pricey.

The real question is "Would you cut it for that"?

It might be a little shy of a cord but IMO you got your money's worth.

I have never seen a cord delivered and not stacked. From the picture, I would say well short.

Exactly. I think its worth $200 just because its one project we don't have to mess with. Plus if I say something, he will bring more. He will probably do that anyway.

Maybe it's a face cord. Would probably be close to that.

It's not from a wood cutting company. Just a whiskey drinking Cowboy that offered to help us out when I asked him if he knew someone in the area that would cut and deliver firewood. His buddy popped off and said, "I can get you a cord for $200" and Bubba the Cowboy said, "shut up man, I'll get them some firewood myself", so i said,"you deliver us a cord of wood way the hell out here, I'll gladly give you $200" Not to mention when we were there Thanksgiving, he brought us probably 20 logs for free.

You should get him to keep your feeder full down in the canyon.

I have an old Galvanized Sweeney Feeder going down there with a feedpen this summer (needs timer). He'll help me keep it full. Good guy and he really likes us. Feels bad that theres no quail so he has been feeding a spot for us the past few weeks so we can shoot some hogs this weekend.

Looks short of a cord, but I personally wouldn't complain. The so called firewood people in Ruidoso would have charged you more, and the pile would have been smaller, but more spread out. Their idea of stacked is throw it in a pile in the driveway.

Looks short and all those small diameter stick will burn quick. He likely threw it down because it was short also , doesnt take a lot of effort to stack it some what. I would not do bussiness with him again. Like I said it looks short. Quickly stack it and find out. I dont like alll them little stick either

Not even close but the delivery and friendly service are worth something.

Maybe I could agree if it was stacked.

So yea, in this case looks to be a deal, short or not. I was looking at it differently because I have so much mesquite at the lease and the landowner said we could cut all we want. Cutting is easy...splitting it is another story.
