I have been using a RCBS Chargemaster I bought brand new.

How do y'all feel about its consistency vs the traditional scale?

Disclaimer: I have a balance but have never used it.

With that out of the way, my Chargemaster is consistently consistent enough for me. Though I'm not a military or law enforcement sniper so my experience may not matter.

I used an RCBS 1010 beam scale for many years. Switched to a Lyman electronic unit and used it till it finally died. I did not notice any difference in the loads and accuracy from the Lyman, though things did speed up considerably. Now I have a Chargemaster combo unit, but have not used it yet.

I have used the chargemaster for several years and find it consistent. I often check with a smaller electronic scale and or a 10 10 beam scale

The “straw” addition was a big help for consistency in the final few grains.

I use the Chargemaster 1500 and run every powder load from it over a set of manual scales.

I see some variation.

I use a charge master and balance beams, throw a little low and trickle up on the balance beam.

The metal inserts to me are a bit better than the straw but the straw is cheaper. cheers

There is a thread in the tech links sticky about some setting to make the charge master a bit quicker on throwing the charges that is good information as well

If you're in the node they are more than adequate enough.

They advertise +/- .1

In my experience they are accurate in their assessment.

I use my charge master all the time. I used hot glue on a whataburger straw and pushed it into the tube. It’s very accurate now.

Im good with the consistency but mainly the speed. I have found that if you turn it on an hour or so before, turn off any blowing air, and keep all electronics away from the unit it swings less and stays true.
Having said that I calibrate every 50-100 rounds and check it to my 505 scale. I use a dandy trickler to reach my final .3-.5 grains. This helps alot and lowered my ES and SD down to low teens
and in the single digits on a few calibers.

I throw .1 grain low with my CM and trickle up. Works fine for precision rifle.

For pistol work, I just use the CM as-is with no trickling. Really depends on what type of precision you need.

When loading plinking ammo or typical stand/feeder hunting ammo etc. I use the chargemaster and it is more than accurate enough. The two loads I shoot further distance with I throw low on the chargemaster and trickle to a final charge on a beam scale.

I find the chargemaster to be as accurate as they advertise it(when warmed up) if you just turn it on and start throwing charges it can be significantly off. I tested that a while back and the first charge I threw was considerably off right after turning it on, 10 minutes later it was about 50% closer and another 10 and it was within its advertised specs. I have been happy with mine.
