Guys, Always been a dove deer and duck kinda guy, but my Father has always talked about how much fun the quail are/used to be. Would love to try it, and would even be willing to pay a smallish fee to do so. Anywhere within about 45 mins of Killeen Ft Hood, let me know!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.......holy kaka.....What a Ride!

used to be some good hunting right off the wfh exit on the left coming out of cove. We hunted and ran our dogs in the area across the tracks where all those buildings are now. but that was years ago.
Not sure how the hunting is there now.

I've actually seen some pretty good covey while deer hunting, just don't have a dog to get on them with, and since I haven't been in the state for 15 months with so many other things to do really don't have time to find them...

Fire ants play a role in quails lives but the biggest threat to our fragile bird is the habitat. You have to have the rains at the right times to spawn the hatches. Rule of thumb is: No water= no food= no quail, simple fact. Predation is another factor also.

Don't forget the Bermuda grass! Worthless to all wildlife but great for cows and horses!
