My son is starting to collect some WWII militaria. I know he has a couple of German/US knives and/or bayonets. I'd like to get him something for Christmas. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to get something?? What to look for?

There are lots of fake/reproductions of literally crap out there. At the same time there are a lot of real stuff that is being sold. You will have to educate yourself on how to tell the differences.
My neighbor found an "authentic" Montagnard crossbow at a garage sale, the seller said his FIL had brought it home from Vietnam. The problem, maple trees are not native to Vietnam. I got a bargain that is fun to play with.

He is currently a combat medic at Fort Stewart, Georgia. I think if I could find something along those lines, that would be cool. There are lots of fake/reproductions of literally crap out there. Not sure if you get to old town Irving but Porters Army/Navy and Roy’s Gun and Pawn sometimes have things like that. My office is towards downtown Dallas and I head over that way every couple of weeks during lunch. I like to cruise thru and just see what they have. There are a couple other pawn shops along Irving blvd but are mostly electronics, tools and etc. If I see something interesting, I can let you know.

I work in Las Colinas, I'll see if I can get over at lunch one day. Thanks again!

There’s a place in Weatherford, I see you’re in Denton...
It’s just north of the square and one street west of the main drag
I don’t recall the name, been there once
He had a lot of nice militaria
I’m sure it’s full retail but his selection is nice
Google it or swing by, it’s not hard to find

Check with Omaha Surplus in Fort Worth. It has been a few years but when our group was looking for some Vietnam Era, we found it there. Used to be a great place here, but it burned, I heard he is on eBay, but have no clue who or what his eBay name is.

Steve & John at the local shows have good stuff and don’t try to stick it to new collectors like some of the other guys I won’t mention. Ryan J. also has lots of good German blades.
I have some Japanese swords I’m looking to part with to do some upgrade buying of better smiths.
You could also buy him some reference books. They’re expensive but worth every penny.
