not in a high fence?? in the neighborhood of 6 or 7, all in east tx.

can't tell you exactly where I saw some of them, but 2 have been in game preserve real close to my parents house. During certain times of the year, you can go down to the end of the road, set up a spotting scope and see between 30-40 bucks out feeding. A few years ago, there was a monster typical 14pt (and I do not exagerate when I say monster). Several folks saw it, took guestimations, even a cpl of reputable biologists and we were all figuring in the area of 215-220. Had a big non-typical a cpl years before seeing that 14pt in the same location. And the rest have all been within the last cpl of years, but they were all free-ranging breeder bucks ranging from 208"-247".

thats awesome i hunt east tx and have seen several 140's maybe a few 150's and possibly one 160 but definately nothing bigger than that but the areas i hunt in east tx are overhunted and for the most part i think it would be pretty safe to say hunted year round you are lucky to be in a place to see this quality of animal and this often definately jealous

na, I'm not as lucky as you think.... wardens camp out on that field in the preserve so that nothing gets shot, and there is a lot of cover food, and does to keep those bucks put. One deer we had been seeing goofed up back around '01, but didn't make the 200" mark. Not really sure if the tagged breeder bucks count in this conversation, but they are free ranging enough to cross a river and show up in fields they have no business being in.

The biggest buck I've seen not under high fence probably would have gone high 170s, low 180s. And he was GIANT. Right on the intercoastal waterway near Winnie at one of Jack Brittanham's (sp?) places that he used/uses for his duck/goose ranch. Was fishing with a buddy who worked there. Place wasn't even managed for deer and we saw about 10 absolute monsters.

Never broke the 180 mark... Seen a mule deer that was pushing it.. seen a lot of 150-160's

My cousin shot a 194 this year and I got to hold it in my hands two days after he shot... but I saw it on game cam and never thought it would break 170...once I got it in my hands I about fell over...You truely don't know how big 170+ is until you hold it... its hugggeeeeeeeee

Amocuernos,
Wow, I bet you put your time and hard work in on that one. Where at?

Grayson,
You kill that animal in Hagerman?

I have never seen a 200", biggest I have seen in the wild is about probly mid 160's.

First net score was 231 actually. Guess that guy bribed the Haggerman draw system, TBGA, and P&Y. . Google it. It was 2001, not 2005 though like Grayson said.

I knew Grayson's deer didn't score 225... that's why I said that...

Cooner I killed him on my ranch before our neighbor fenced us... I didn't work as hard for him as I have worked since...

Believe it or not... we still hunt the same way now that we hunted then...

The Duncan buck grosses 231 or 232 and nets 225 7/8, I'm pretty sure.

Hey, I was right on the nose! http://www.texassportsmanmag.com/hunting/whitetail-deer-hunting/tx_aa075102a/

Txduckman, I should add that Duncan's buck is one of the 3 that I've seen on the hoof. I actually saw him on the hoof while driving around the refuge the year before he was killed, when he was probably a little bigger. Saw him once in velvet in late summer, and again in the fall.
