Warranties are negotiable just like anything else.
I vote yes but don't pay full cost.

If you buy or have a Ford. Check out (Google) Troy Ford in Ohio. About half price on Genuine Ford ESP. Have a 5 year 125,000 mile job on my 2017 F250 FX4. Saved a ton.

Bought a new 1983 Toyota 4x4 p/u and a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. Put 100k on it first 2 years, then quit working out of it. The tranny needed rebuilding every 50k miles. They took care of it. I always had clutch replaced on my expense for an extra $100 in parts when tranny was rebuilt.

For me it depends. How long do you plan on keeping the car or truck? From my experience, it seems like the more expensive things start to need fixing around the 70-80k mile mark.
Is it a new vehicle or used? If it’s mine and I know how it’s been taken care of, then I might wait a little bit. If I don’t know if the previous owner changed the oil and treated it nice, then I want a warranty.
The make of the car is good to figure in as well. If it’s a Honda or a Toyota, then just by changing the oil you can get them to last much longer than a GM. But GM is cheaper to get fixed. If you have transmission problems on a Honda you are gonna cry.
To many variables for me to just say yes or no.

Never. Odds are your expenses on potential repairs won't equal the price of the warranty, or they wouldn't be selling them. That's been my experience, never came close to having a repair that would have paid for the cost of the warranty. In fact, had I bought every warranty that the F&I guy was trying to sell me I'd be about 10k in the hole.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I paid for it on my Chevy and didn't have any part failures until 200,000 miles. I probably wouldn't on a gas engine again but I would spend the money if I purchased a diesel.

Nope.
Its been a long time and I don't remember where I read it but their findings were that pretty much all extended warranties were a money loosing venture.

Got the Mopar, Lifetime Unlimited Mileage, warranty on my Wangler. Covers almost everything that is covered under the standard 3/36 warranty. Almost 2.5 years old and just about to roll 60K and don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

Typically, no. But I did on a 2014 F150 and it paid for itself twice.

Nope, never have. Feeling the need to buy one would be a reason not to by that brand.

The warranty sellers make most of their money on the policies sold to the people that do not keep their vehicles long enough. The middle group, that once problems start, they also start looking fpr new or newer vehicles, they make a little money on these people. Last, the person that drives it until the wheels fall off, they break even or lose a little on these people. But the latter are so cheap, they usually don't buy the extended warranties.

Never but I rarely keep them much over a year. See? That does nothing to prove your point....you said never, then illustrated a situation where you did/do. Never is a long time and is an absolute....you contradicted yourself.

Almost 2.5 years old and just about to roll 60K and don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Curious, how much was it? And do you have to get all oil changes at the dealer? I have never bought an extended warranty on anything except appliances, that paid for itself times over just on ice makers. Anyway, I'm kicking it around now---2018 Wrangler at 22,000+ miles and may keep it a long time.
