Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have ordered a Rock River Arms .223. I want to mount a night vision scope for night time hog hunting. Looking for recommendations.
TIA
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

The D740 is 4 power with selectable red or amber reticle complete with dimmer switch. I prefer the 4 power over the 6 power D760.

nice shooting there. how long did it take to clean those badboys!
i bought an ATN 410 scope for $579 and although its a 1st gen, it seems like it will work for what i wanted it for; hog hunting. not sure where youre located, but if you are near houston or college station your welcome to check mine out sometime.

Keep'em coming.
Djones, I was a Lubbock native for 40 years. Now residing in the MetroMess area.
Found a dealer that actually had some Rock River's in stock. My other dealer was quoting a 8 - 12 month waiting period.

This is an old Russian Rostov scope. It's useable, but needs a lot of moonlight to be very effective. As for the hogs, I'm shooting them for sport at the moment. I used to give them away, but no one wants to mess with them at the times I've been getting in lately. Lubbock is at the bottom of the panhandle, quite a ways from Houston. I have a kid in school at College Station though. Would love to go hunting there sometime.

if you make it to college station , be sure to check out Champion Firearms. It is at Texas and Holleman. It is one of my favortie stores with absolutely awesome pricing. Plus the indoor pistol range is nice during the summer.

http://tacticalnightvision.com/monocular.htmI have the ITT PVS 14 with the autogated tube and there is nothing better. The D300 is a great unit without the high price. That being said if the price is still too high save until you have enough. IMO anything less than the D300 will be a frustrating waste of time and money. A monocular is a more versitile way to go than a dedicated NV scope as it can be head/helmet and weapon mounted. All depends on the optics chosen for the gun and your needs.

robf213, The PVS 14 is great for observation, but how do you aim with it? It has no reticle. I’ve used it with the skull cap and aimed with NV compatible EOTechs and lasers mounted to the weapon. Victor at Tacticalnightvision is first class.
Dry Fire, I’ve used .223 for hogs, but prefer the .308. It’s harder to recover between multiple shots, but does so much more damage. On running shots, you can’t always hit where you want. There is a lot of information on AR15.com under the Armory forum in the Night Vision section.

I use NV compatible Eotechs and Aimpoints on AR's/M4's and an adapter on my bolt guns with scopes. I bought a PEQ2 a while back and THAT is the way to go. Victor is the best by the way.
