Not sure how to post the link to the article. 20 year old walks into a Missouri Wal Mart dressed in fatigues, with a tactical vest, AR 15 pistol slung across his chest, magazine inserted in the mag well and multiple loaded magazines. People panic when they see the dude, the manager pulls the fire alarm and folks start running from the store. At some point an off duty Fireman pulls his CCW pistol and holds the guy at gun point until the Police arrive.

What an idiot. Police said “he’s lucky to be alive”.

Copy cat.

Some people think he was trying to make a point and didn’t actually want to shoot anyone, but I think he is a copycat and the firefighter is a hero.

But since when can a CCW holder draw and hold someone at gun point who actually hasn't done anything illegal? Isnt he technically the aggressor? It doesn't say the idiot pointed his AR at anyone.

We had a heated hypothetical debate about this last night. I argued that had the fireman shot the kid he likely wouldn’t be charged, or if charged he would be no billed. Did the kid break the law? Not sure, but what he did wasn’t very prudent. I could see how an untrained CCW holder may have popped the guy based on recent events and panic.

Yep, copycat plus a loser all about the attention. "Making a point" is what these idiots always claim in order to justify what they do in order to get the attention.

This is just one of the problems with open carry laws. You can't tell who the nut-jobs are.

Just wait...eventually someone who is legally open carrying, like the kid above, will get someone killed.

If the kid decided to shoot the fireman because the fireman pulled a gun on him, and the kid was carrying legally, everyone would be upset. But it would be the fireman who made the mistake.

I'd rather see people not run and instead they all draw their sidearm on the guy.

If they had time to pull a fire alarm, have everyone running for the doors, and a person draw on and detain him, I'm going with this ^^^ theory. It sounds like he had more than ample time to shoot people if that was his intent. On the question of what would happen if the fireman had shot him, I think he would have a much more sympathetic DA and jury pool now than he would have if the last two shootings had never happened.

Based on what I read I'm not sure he has broken any laws, being a moronic scum bag idiot is unfortunately not a crime...

Police in Missouri identified the armed suspect that entered a Springfield Walmart on Thursday as 20-year-old Dmitriy Nickolayvich Andreychenko, who was reportedly stopped at gunpoint by an off-duty firefighter before being taken into custody by police.

Andreychenko was booked into the Greene County Jail at around 9:14 p.m. on an arresting charge of making a terroristic threat in the first degree, according to booking information from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

ARMED OFF-DUTY FIREFIGHTER HALTS ARMED SUSPECT AT WALMART STORE IN MISSOURI, POLICE SAY

Police in Missouri identified the armed suspect that entered a Springfield Walmart on Thursday as 20-year-old Dmitriy Nickolayvich Andreychenko, who was reportedly stopped at gunpoint by a former firefighter before being taken into custody by police. (Greene County Sheriff’s Office)

The suspect was taken into custody by Springfield police after he allegedly entered a local Walmart at around 4:10 p.m. while armed and dressed in what appeared to be tactical gear.

He reportedly grabbed a shopping cart and began pushing it around while recording himself on a phone, Springfield’s KYTV reported. After being alerted to this, the store manager pulled a fire alarm and shoppers fled.

Police say Andreychenko also attempted to exit the store but was met by an armed off-duty fireman. The unidentified man detained the suspect until officers arrived on the scene and were able to take him into police custody.

Reports said that Andreychenko was armed with a loaded gun and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.

Andreychenko was booked into the Greene County Jail at around 9:14 p.m. on an arresting charge of making a terroristic threat in the first degree.

Springfield police Lt. Mike Lucas told KYTV that the suspect’s intent was “to cause chaos.”

"He certainly had the capability and the potential to harm people. And then what has happened in Texas and Dayton and all that kind of stuff the last seven days, that is on everybody's mind," he added

Reports said that Andreychenko was armed with a loaded gun and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.

It wasn't immediately clear if Andreychenko told cops why he was at the store, however, the incident comes five days after a mass shooting at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, that resulted in 22 deaths.

According to a Facebook page that appeared to be Andreychenko’s, he is originally from Portland, Oregon but lives with his wife in Springfield. He studied EMS/EMT at Ozarks Technical Community College.

Glad the Fireman detained him. There is no rational reason for the idiot to carry an AR into any store...none whatsoever.

Missouri has been an open carry state since 2016. Their residents are allowed to open carry firearms wherever they are allowed. No distinction between pistols or rifles, only thing it said was firearms.

Unless he said something, I don't see the terroristic threat arrest sticking and possibly a lawsuit in his future. That being said, he is an idiot for doing this right after what happens in El Paso. He is lucky he didn't get shot.
