I have built up a nice 10/22 and would like suggestions on an aftermarket bolt that will provide improved performance. At the range the other day I had problems with ignition which went away after I swapped bolts with another 10/22 I had with me. Build specs are:

Magnum Research receiver with integrated scope rail.
Kidd 20" match barrel.
Fajen stock.
Jard trigger group.

Volquartsen's bolt is very expensive at $250
Kidd has a bolt for $99 but seems to be geared for the Kidd receiver. Not sure how it would work in a Magnum Research.
Power Custom has a bolt for $123. Don't know anything about them.

Suggestions or any other options I've missed?

Send your bolt to Randy at CPC. $80 or so.

Yep. If it jams, it's his fault.

Measuring the depth on the front of the bolt and lapping it to shorten it if it is out of spec will do everything you needed to do. You may also want to disassemble it and polish the firing pin.

This is a link to CPC. Randy should be on your 10/22 list. It will be hard to find someone that knows them better and does superior work on them. When I get a new to me 10/22, the first thing I do is send him the bolt and sometimes the barrel too. Call him.

Thanks all for the input. I ordered a Kidd bolt and springs since it would be available for the match. We'll see how she runs.

Kidd has a good buffer and bolt handle too.
