Just two people, so I dont want w $600 per night condo, I would like a $200 a night Condo, Motel would be okay as long as its

haven't been to SPI in years but have found VRBO to be very useful by using the filters narrowing it down to what you are looking for specifically.

Not huge fan of SPI but we usually stay at the Pearl. Right on the beach.

In the 70s I worked down there. I always visited the concrete oyster bar at the end of the island. I wonder if it is still there.

SPI and Galveston are both overrated.
I used to go there all the time 20 yrs ago to fish.
Now, even if you had to pay me, I would not go.

I've stayed there many times. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms are nice.

Or try to be a gentlemen and help the poor girls that were trying to carry 8 cases of beer... when you are not legal age.

If you have a camper, there is a pretty nice KOA campground there. Have stayed a few times. We always head way north where you can drive on the beach. You can setup with nobody within hundreds of yards of you if you want.

Beave S Padre beach is so much nicer, whiter sand clearer water and is a different world than Galveston hammer

Buzz here is what you need to do if you are taking a girly friend. Go to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores Alabama!
Take the fun scenic route leave early and have a stop over in New Orleans eat drink have fun, next morning take the short drive to the beach and have fun in the sun cheers

We did that when we went to Destin and loved it, great time was had by all up

Theres a Hilton garden inn on the north end of SPI. Id stay there. Get a bay fishing guide at Parrot Eyes, its down that way, on the other side of the street. And dont forget to go to Blackbeards.

The only good fun i had in galveston was to follow the shrimp boats fishing with a guide for black tip sharks.
We rolled 50 plus sharks that day, it was insane. Find a guide willing to go only for sharks and tip him more due to all them extra expensive hooks and leaders he will loose. To follow up with fascinating people watching at the Galveston Golden Corral.

We have been several times. My wife attends a medical conference there in July. We always stay at the Isla Grand. It's a nice place. They have condos and motel rooms - they refer to the motel rooms as cabanas I believe. Eat at Blackbeards, Parrot Eyes, and Sea Ranch. If you want to go fishing contact Clayton Mock. I've fished with him several times and will be fishing with him again in July for a couple of days.

This is the exact plan.......so far.... I fish with Rudy Garza out of Parrot Eyes. they have the best guides!! Skipper Mock walks on the bay I think!!!

Orange Beach is VERY intriguing, same drive time I think??? Can you go fishing there? NOT Off shore

This is where we always stay. Nice pool and just a short drive to Scuttlebutts ( a must eat at place, best oysters around and live entertainment).

I've gone on a good number of family vacations to SPI as a kid and recently as an adult. We normally stay on the bayside at a place with a lighted dock for night fishing and easy access to the bay. The beach is always a few minutes away, or you can take a drive to the Jetties or North up the beach and away from the crowds. I think prices are a bit more reasonable as well. Just another option to consider.

As a side note, I would recommend you DON'T eat at Blackbeard's or Cap'n Roy's.

Blackbeard's is a tourist trap with overpriced and mediocre food at best. This is my opinion from numerous experiences over the years. We only went back because that's where our friends from the Valley wanted to meet/eat. Last year, we had a morbidly obese woman as our waiter that was slow and had excuses for everything, seafood platter was a bunch of fried food from the freezer. It will be my last time eating there.

Cap'n Roys food was okay (at first...), but smaller portions than expected. The bad part was it looked like the walls, decorations, and ceiling hadn't been cleaned in a very, very long time. I couldn't help but wonder what the kitchen looked like. Then shortly after the food arrived and I was about to take a bite, I noticed a roach casually crawl off the edge of my plate onto the table before I discreetly killed it.
