ATF issued a ruling on 1/12/09 that states: "Any person who is engaged in the business of camouflaging or engraving firearms as described in this ruling must be licensed as a dealer, which includes a gunsmith, under the Gun Control Act." Cav-Aid 2008 NRA Life Member Font Sight Life Member\

nice,

not as nice as my noveske build, but still very nice

what direction are you going with this ? generally an 18" barrel screams long distance accuracy, but some of your add ons are more tactical.
what optics are you looking at ?
for that, Id look hard at some 1-4 optics.

good call on the colt LPK, thats what I used and the difference between it and everyone else's LPK is amazing.

What a top notch build! I'd top it with an ACOG too and for BUIS I'd go with Troy. They are high priced but boy they are robust and very low profile.

I would like to go with the Noveske marked BUIS, I think they are made by Troy. A guy traded me a magpul set that I will use for now.

I was looking for a 16" barrel and the 18" was all I could find at the time. Now I kind of like the look. Also, Noveske claims the intermediate gas system (longer than a middy) will make it even more reliable. So it's a little bit of a long tactical carbine. I have a magnifyer in a LaRue mount already so I am thinking of going with an Aimpoint. The Eotec's are nice, but ,for me, were hard to get used to. I think I would really like the ACOG, but they are expensive.

Super Nice! I'm building my second noveske right now myself. Have to wait to get my stamp back from the ATF to finish it all out, but here is a pic without the lower parts kit and lights and such... Can't say enough good stuff about Noveske!

Big Ron if I were you, I would turn it into a SPR and add a Mark 4 Leupold and a harris bipod. Here is a pic of my first build... it had the 18" noveske barrel and it was the tightest shooting gun I have ever shot. Hands down. You always hear people talk about clover leaf groups... that barrel would do it no problem as long as you had the longer/heavy 77 grain HTBP running down the pipe. Mine had a 1 in 7.5" twist.

The new shorty I'm building has a 1 in 7 twist so it will eat the longer bullets also. On AR15.com there is a guy getting 1 MOA groups at 100 yards with the 7.5" barrel like mine. To me that sounds crazy b/c the bullet doesn't even make a full rotation... guess we will find out once I get it finished.

Well, I had to sell some stuff because I spent more than I could afford on the optic. I went with a Leupold Mark 4, but it is the 1-3 CQ/T. I ordered it last night. I had read about them, but did not seriously consider one until I happened to see one at CTD (they should change their name to MSRP). This sight is awesome, true 1X for both eyes open like a red dot, but variable to 3X for mid-range accuracy. If the batteries run down, the reticle is etched on the glass, so it's still there in black.

Also, I am changing out the butt stock. Sold the Emod. Liked the look, but the weighted stock did not feel right to me. They weighted these stocks, I assume, to balance out longer barrels like mine. But I did not like the handling feel. I am considering a LMT SOPMOD. Does anyone have experience with these? I like the wide top cheek weld like the VLTOR models. I have a S&W VTAC with the standard VLTOR that I really like. Just wanted to try something different.

BTW, that is an awesome shorty, Greg.

I've got a SOPMOD on my latest LMT. I really like it. Very little movement and the improved cheek weld is fantastic.

Excellent choice on the Leupold Mark 4! I love those.

I spent too much on the Leupold, but I can't wait for the UPS truck to show. My AR budget was already strained. It is now officially busted.

My son has been saving his summer job money to work on his first AR. I'll have to enjoy helping him with his purchases for a while since I won't be making any more of my own. He turns 14 next month and he is 90% finished with his first AR.

God is so good to me.

Did your Noveske Barrell come with a switchblock gas block on it? I would like to have one but they will only sell you one on one of their bbls right now. Those blocks are great with silencers.
