I went on the water buffalo hunt being offered by JAB this weekend. I’ve been on the lookout for a hunt since I needed some meat and wanted to play with my double rifle. It was a fun hunt; after a few miles of walking trying to find the group and then a few try’s to get in the right spot. The whole place is very thick from all the rain which would make it easier to get close to them but they decided to go to a much more open area. We got to 35 yards to make the shot on the best set of horns in the group. I walked away with a awesome animal, a lot of meat, and a memory of a fun hunt.

Heck of rifle, that is a cool way to hunt. Nice buffalo.

Here are a few other pictures from the hunt or buffalo still out there. The group gathered to defend the one I took Catching them at a small pond when it heated up; the one laying in the water has a broken horn on one side but is huge

If you don’t mind me asking, about how much meat wee you able to take home? Great trophy, it turned out really nice! I took home the quarters, back straps, loins, and some Neck meat. After all trimming and processing I probably have at least 250 lbs of finished meat. I ground around 80 lbs, cut roast and steaks out of most, and used 25 lbs for jerky. Here is a back leg quarter to give you an idea; it’s sitting on a 18x30” cutting board on a 110quart cooler

After paying for the hunt, you didn't take the shoulders and rib meat to be ground? Where was this hunt?

I took 3 full 110 quart coolers of meat back home to process. The front shoulders were cut for some steaks and jerky with the rest ground. The only thing I didn’t take back was the ribs. Each rear leg filled a cooler, both front shoulders and the back straps/ loins fit in the other. Neck meat got thrown in wherever there was space. The pictures are just one leg as an example. Hunt was in Hondo
