CCI Standard Velocity seems to be the most commonly pronounced "best shooting" regular ammo out of the most shooters.

Green Tag and Wolf MT will out shoot it. But not by a lot.

I would have to get a really good price to buy another one.

I’m pretty sure the gun in the OP takes Ruger 10/22 mags and will take any of the Ruger aftermarket barrels and stocks as well. Plus when you use the TC mag it has the bolt hold open feature. It’s also threaded from the factory and has a better trigger and barrel as well.

To the OP, If I didn’t already have a 10/22 I would buy one. Everything I have heard about this gun is that it is an improvement on the factory 10/22 in every way.

Well, that’s the same gun as a tweaked 10/22 then. Like a Kidd gun.

Here's a write-up on it.....sounds like an upgraded 10/22 from the factory..... scratch

So how did Thompson/Center do in their quest to challenge the semi-auto rimfire king of the hill? Remarkably well. The T/CR22 performs every bit as well as a comparable 10/22. Plus, it gives you that bolt hold open feature that’s 1) important so you can show the rifle’s clear and safe, and 2) is a nice training aid when working with new shooters.

And then there’s the value angle. When you add up all of the T/CR22’s standard features (Pic rail, fiber optic sight, Magpul stock, threaded barrel) that you have to get aftermarket with the 10/22, that makes the Thompson/Center rifle anywhere from $50 to $75 less expensive.

The T/CR22 isn’t going to de-throne the 10/22 any time soon, but it’s a very attractive alternative that a lot of gun buyers would do well to look at when it comes time to buy a rimfire semi-auto rifle.

Good write-up. That makes it much more attractive.

Building my first 10/22 right now using the Brownell's railed receiver and bull barrel, Volquartsen trigger, and Magpul stock. It's amazing how fast/expensive a comment like "I'll build a 10/22 it can't be that expensive" can get. I could have bought cheaper and/or more expensive parts. Curious to see how this one shoots. A friend of mine's dad shoots Bullseye competitions and he swears by Federal Automatch.

That’s nothing more than a 10/22 clone. It touts its bolt hold open on empty mag. That’s nice I guess.

I tell you what, give me the cash that thing costs and I’ll build two good Ruger 10/22’s for you. I can true a barrel and match it to the bolt for $80. The rest is cheap or free. There’s about six ways to do the trigger, all pretty cheap or free. About $50 worth of Kidd parts for the receiver and you’ve got a slick gun with a 1.5 pound trigger. Now, free float the barrel and pillar bed the stock and you have a shooter. You could even add a Sparrow and come in under the cost of the TC.

So, let’s add it up. Grab an old 10/22 for $150. True it up, + $80. Kidd parts, + $50. Whistles and bells, + $100. That looks like $380 to me. Add a nice Leupy AO and signature mounts for $500 and you still have cash left to start on another one.

And that’s a proper rifle with a proper scope. The Clone is not scoped. And yes, you could shoot beside the guy with the TC and make him cry.

Well dang, I looked and it’s a $400 gun. Can’t build two for that price. I can build one.
