I have this Ithaca 37, pump. Action is very smooth. I think I will shoot it, if I like it, I may have the barrel shortened to 18.5" add a front bead. I believe this the legal length. Use it for a house gun and maybe skeet.

Dont want to spend a ton having it "choked"

Anyone had this done?

Where?

Expensive?

No Jason, I'm not doing it myself with a vice and hacksaw peep

Have a hacksaw, file, square, and sandpaper?

Cut it to length, square it up with the file, polish and deburr muzzle.

I have NEVER personally done this, but I did read about it in a gun rag years ago. The guy did the hacksaw thing, but an inch or so at a time, and would pattern it after every cut until he got the pattern he wanted. There were pics of the cut-offs. The first couple were at least an inch. They got shorter the closer he got to the "choke" he wanted at X-yards. He then sent the barrel off just to have the very end smoothed and polished. Just spit-balling here. Best of luck to you.

Just pay Jason to do it. You don't need to rough your hands up with manual labor.

Rose Action Sports charges $75 to thread for chokes and has quick turn around. I’ve had him chop and thread a few; short barrels pattern just like long barrels when you add a choke. Shotgun sheels use very fast powder so you don’t lose much of any velocity by chopping; the only thing that changes is the swing

Is it a 12 or 20 Buzz? The Model 37 was my first shotgun....if it’s a 20 I’ll make you an offer and cut off a 12 for ya.
