Rented a house on a canal at Jamaica Beach and was wondering if anyone could recommend lights that are not that expensive?

If you can't find floating lights, just pick up some clamp-on lights and clamp on the pier or dock pointing straight down.
The minnows will come to the light, the fish will come to the minnows.

Hoping to go submersible and use AC power.

There are several variations of underwatergreenlight.com...if you web search some variation of that, you should be able to find a shop off of 45 south of Houston. I have one from a place that is located near the Cabela's down there, mine is portable, but it hooks to a battery via alligator clips. It works pretty good, quite a number of houses have permanent underwater green lights down there.

This is probably your cheapest solution. I used one for years before all the new fancy options were available. It does the job.

auto parts store or wal mart, buy the bright green led strips, only need 2. get a pc of vinyl tube about 3" longer than the light strips and 2 pvc caps. drill small hole for wire in one cap and run wire thru. rest is easy.. should only cost about 25.00 for parts and you can run it all night on an atv size battery. just stick the 2 strips together back to back before you put them in the tube.
