Do you? Should I? Not saying it’s correct, but I never have. It’s a 33 Nosler 1-10 twist if it matters...

It's yours...you have to make your own decision. Remember though, barrel break in isn't about the barrel as much as it is where the chamber and rifling meet. If a manufacturer goes though the time to put something like that up, I'd follow it. Otherwise, I use what Bartlien recommends: https://bartleinbarrels.com/cleaning-and-breaking-in-guide-lines/

There is going to be a slew of folks tell you just to go shoot it and I'm not telling you they are right or wrong....but that's what I do.

I broke in my Browning, and my JP enterprise barrel as the recommended. Does it help? They say it does, and it sure won't hurt. I know both of those guns are MUCH easier to clean than all my others. So I feel it at least helped in that regard. They are both also my most accurate guns, not positive it is because of the break in or not though.

Clean it, foul it with ten rounds, go about load development. When it starts to shoot poorly at round count____, repeat the process, until the barrel is worn out.

It all depends on the gun. I have done both the shoot it until accuracy drops then clean and the ones recommended by the barrel/rifle maker. It is your rifle so make the decision and do it how you want.

Sometimes I think it does help in future cleanings like Helo said. But a hand lapped custom high end barrel I do not think it does as much for this as a normal factory rifle

Barrel break in is a myth. I don't think barrels wear in. They wear out! You can wear it out just by cleaning it too much. They are usually more consistent and accurate after a little bit of use because a squeaky clean bore shoots to a different poi than a fouled bore. That's why you ought to not clean them with copper solvent unless the accuracy fades. I've never had to, only new to me used guns.

I do it. It’s just one of those things that don’t really cost anything extra, just some time.
If I’m wrong and it don’t help , I’m not out anything but some solvent and patches.

True that. And as long as you're actually making them count, at least you are getting practice.

I used to do an exhaustive process..
I stopped years ago..
I will clean a little more when the barrel is new but then only if the groups start opening up

I've always followed a break-in process because I prefer to store my rifles with a clean barrel and want the first shot to be accurate without any need for fouling.

If you really want to break in a barrel, load up some of Tubb’s Final Finish bullets.

Break in is a waste of time and bullets IMO. What is not a waste of time is treating a barrel with DT Bore Coat after cleaning a new barrel down to bare metal with JB Bore Paste. You want easy barrel cleaning? Bore Coat is the real deal.
