Out in front of the house, facing the road, is about 1200 feet of fence that my wife wants replaced. It’s a net wire type fence (previous property owner had goats) with a strand of barbed wire at the top. We want the same type fencing, but no t-posts (per the wife). She wants either cedar posts or treated round posts. Can any of you guys give me a ballpark idea of cost - per foot or per yard?

We are south of Groesbeck, in Limestone County, and if any of you are official fence building contractors and want to bid on the job, let me know. We’re talking to the first fellow tomorrow. We are in no particular rush.

It's been about 3 years since I had fence work done but I paid $2.75/ft. for field fence. Sta-Tuff is the only brand I would recommend. My guy used treated posts spaced on 10' centers with one strand of barbed wire along the ground and another strand 1" above the top of the of the mesh. I have no idea of what current prices are but it surely will be more than what I paid. Also, they didn't have to take down an existing fence which would have added considerably to the cost. Sorry I can't be more help but that's all I got.

You should probably expect bids to be around $5-$8/ft.

If the fence is still in good shape, why not have some kind of cedar or other type of cover made to hide the t-posts themselves in-lieu of a full replacement.

Just my 2cents

We picked a fence guy. 1000 feet of fence, field wire (red brand) with barbed wire at the top, 4” treated posts, and 6” treated at the corners. One 12’ gate. Concrete under the corner posts. Total price $4700.

Woulda been cheaper with T-posts, but the wife hates T-posts.
