I don't think there is any thing cooler then cotton...But I think it is more import to think about briars, catus, ticks and chiggars......

I wear denim pants with the brush guards on the bottom. They sell them at Cabelas. Really helps keep the cactus thorns out of your leg.

Yeah, you sweat a lot, but I'd rather sweat than pull thorns out of my leg!

I did NOT need that mental picture just before bedtime

I wear denim, and boots

Like said before, I would rather be hot then dig thorns out of my legs!

Carhartt makes a carpenter style jean thats a little thinner, kinda like the bib overalls. I have a pair and like them.

I would need three snakeboots to do that safely.

I have one old pair of jeans I cut the legs off short to wear with snake boots while working. They are cooler that way, and still have the protection.

LOL! There might be. But would it stand up to the rigors of hard work as well. I have a hard enough time with Wranglers standing up to working with barb wire fence for too long during the summer. But I guess if you can't take the heat do what we do out here in the summer. Get out there 1 hour before sunrise with plenty of water. Work till about noon 1 pm. Break till about 5 pm and then work till dark maybe a little later. Avoid the part of the day with the most heat and drink lots of water. Put your sodas all away as well.

And me as well. I couldn't image wearing anything but shorts on those hot days of summer.

And while my trailer has a shower, I've often wished for a pond or "tank" with a small deck and pier where I could take a sudden plunge into some cool water.

I wear dessert camies my brother brought back from the nasty east. They are cool, plenty of pockets, can tie at bottom, and do not catch on briars, stickers, barbed wire, etc nearly as much as blue jeans. I had a pair when I was in the service for 15 years before I had to retire them. Good stong pants.

Seriously, toughest and coolest I have ever seen is Riggs (by Wrangler) Workwear. They have one's with cargo pockets and they are ripstop...

I buy couple pair a year for "dress casual" for school/work, then as they fade they become work. Comes in two shades of khaki and brown and green.

How do you short-wearing guys handle the chiggers/tick problem? I can't imagine the itch after walking in brush in shorts.
