mrmo, that's the first time I've ever heard the significance of the different folds.
I'm pretty big on proper respect for our flag and what it represents - thanks for posting that.

I've used youtube to figure out how to break in to my brand new running truck that the dog locked. Comes in very handy in guitar building

I've lost count of the number of times I've been able to fix/replace things by watching youtube videos. I've also had several projects that I hired out after watching youtube videos.

I had already amassed quite a collection of auto repair manuals,Haynes, etc.before the internet got invented. Of course once the internet came along all that info(plus a whole lot more) was uploaded to the WWW and the manuals were no longer needed and thrown away. Then a few years later YouTube came along. Now there is an insane amount of info on auto repair at your fingertips. You youngsters are lucky.

The older videos seem to be better, in the last few years it seems everybody with a video cam is making how to videos, and some are on the borderline of dangerous. I saw one a few months ago of a guy making dovetail joints with a table saw, he broke every basic safety rule in the book. Within 2 hours after he posted the video it was removed from YouTube.

I have a little Patton space heater. It has a thermostat control that I fully understand. It has another little lighted switch which has a 1 and 2 setting. I tried but never could find out the purpose of the 1 and 2 settings.

Try sounding Taps right before they fold it. The widow usually breaks down while you're playing. You gotta be ready for that. flag

Pretty sure the 1-2 switch is wattage setting. Low and high.

My internet was out for two weeks last months. During that time I didn't know how to do anything and had no idea what was going on.

Toro has great how-to videos for common maintenance on their zero-turn riding mowers. Things like removing the deck, changing blades, replacing serpentine belt, replacing spindles, etc. Not rocket science, but man watching the videos made it much easier for me to do the first time around.

I think both youtube and google have made a huge difference in this regard, no doubt creating many DIY's in turn.

I did great on youtube troubleshooting my dryer down to the heater coil and ordering the right part. But then when I realized that my coil wasn't the slide right out kind, but the take out the tub and belt kind, I realized too late i bit off more than I could chew with the project. But other stuff has worked out great.

My dryer stopped drying. Watched a YouTube video. Ordered new heater coil on Amazon delivered same day. Fixed in 30 minutes for $30.

If you want it done right you gotta do it yourself. Thank God for the internet, it has saved me thousands. I have had mechanics attempt to con me out of well over $1k just to get my vehicles running well enough to pass inspection. Firestone is the worst about this. It's like they start with the most expensive possibility when troubleshooting.
