Never wanted one till last year. I have 2 stands about 3.5 miles apart and my mind gets warped on which one i want to go to & ended up w/ nothing last year waiting on that one that was probably never there. It would be nice to have an idea of what is coming around. So in y'alls opinion, which game cam would you prefer. I'm thinking on biting the bullet this year and getting one but don't want to go broke in the mean time. like to keep it around $200 give or take.

Under 200 I would have to say the moultrie, either the m-40 or the I -40. But be prepared for it to get sent back for repairs. At least they pay for shipping back to you unlike others that make you pay shipping both ways.

Take a look at the Stealth Cam I540IR. I bought one last year and it takes great pictures. The trigger speed is a little slow but for the money you are looking to spend, you can buy 2 of them. I've been seeing them on sale recently and thinking about buying another one. The batteries lasted over 3 months in mine. It's not a Cuddeback but its alot cheaper.

I have two Moultries I-40 and have had issues with one. I sent it back in and they sent me a new one in return. Apparently, they we were having an issue with that model and I am hoping they have got it ironed out by now. But, like Helo said be prepared to send it back in. By that I mean, save your reciept.

I think I would also stick with the infrared flash cams also, simply for extended battery life.

I got my last one from Academy for like $199.

I also have two Stealth Cams powered by 12v feeder batteries one on a solar panel. The one w/o solar charger have had over 800 photos in less than 20 days, with flash one some, and showing a full charge. In my area they were selling for $129 at Academy and $119 on sale at Cabelas. But it cost me more after I finally got out of there. ha. But pleased with the results of the Stealth Cams.

Cuddeback has the best trigger that I've found if you have it set up on trails or a fence line. If on a feeder, it does well also, but the Moultrie will do. I sent my Cuddeback in the other day for repairs, still under warrant, and got it back. Like a knucklehead, I tried to bend one of the metal posts up just a bit to hit the battery and broke it. Now got to send it back, as I'm not a techno person, to get it fixed. Or I will sell it......Bought a new IR and have a I-60 and an older Cuddeback and don't need 4 of them.

I am on my second scott guard, and I am about to have to send this one back also. They charge me shipping both ways, what a crock. The first one was broke when I got it, and I still had to pay shipping both ways.

What?!

Yes sir, this one is taking lots of all white pics. No date or anything is showing up. Plus they make you pay shipping both ways, where moultrie at least pays shipping back to you. Scott guard makes you send a check to cover the shipping back to you.

You might try "formatting" your card. I've never had to do this with my cameras but I've heard it mentioned on nearly all other brands.

You do this by going to the folder where your sd drive is located right click on the card and select format. Since the date/time stamp isn't showing up it sounds like it is the card or corrupted firmware.

I think you know, but it not the buckeye that one is working perfect.

Out of about 100 pics which is about average on a night I get about 15 to 20 that are solid white. I changed the batteries even though they were showing 2 of 3 bars, with about the same results. I have 2 SD cards that I rotate and it is doing it with both.
