After selling my Tikka CTR (which I really liked), I want to do a Tikka T3 light stainless, cut down the barrel to 16'' or so and thread for my suppressor for a short truck gun and an easy one to carry. My only issue is if the barrel contour is thick enough at about 16'' to do 5/8 thread without using an adaptor. Anyone done anything like this? thanks fellas.

Even a cheap caliper will give you an O.D. and you will have your answer.

If I was at home Id measure mine for you. Also, it could be for sale.

I dont think the barrel on a t3 lite will be thick enough for 5/8 threads even at 16, if you want to stay with the recommended .050 shoulder (youd need .725 OD). I dont have my calipers handy but I think your OD at 16 is about .680-690 I had my t3 lite 223 chopped at 16.5 and my 243 at 18, both threaded 1/2. I use a 1/2-5/8 adapter to run my suppressor on these. Ive seen other guys have threaded 6.5s and .308s with sporter barrels 1/2, but with 1/2 threads and a .308 bore muzzle wall thickness needs to be considered. On the other hand Kimber Montanas come with 7/16 muzzle threads up to .30 cal I think, so I guess those are working. Id get with a good riflesmith and see what they recommend. Some reading on the subject here: https://www.longriflesinc.com/colle...ts/gunsmithing-services-muzzle-threading

I have an extra 20 308 Tikka CTR barrel take off Im willing to part with. Could easily be cut down to 16 and still be threaded for suppressor

Have several tikkas in here to do, just mic'd a standard one (not lightweight one) and it was .675ish at the 16 mark, so not thick enough for 5/8.

I had my Tikka 308 cut down and threaded for my suppressor. Griffin makes an mount that threads onto 1/2" but is built for 308 suppressor. So I didn't have to go with an adapter. But the Griffin unit only works with certain Griffin suppressors. Either way, I think you'll be fine with a good adapter.
