At our lease we were lucky to get a teenage boy out of bed before 9:00am. My daughter out-hunted all of the boys combined for 5 years before she went to college. The boys just wanted to drive around in the Rangers all day. Unless there was a girl at camp, then you couldn't get them to leave. Must be that fumes thing that chalet mentioned

Thanks for the replies. No he dont play fortnite. Hes a very out going, athletic kid and a good kid at that. Just got to thinking maybe killing a good deer like that might of ruined his desire to go hunt another one. I will take some of yalls ideas and try them. I'm not trying to force hunting down his throat. I go predator hunting alot on school nights and on other occasions when he cant go so its not like I'm in his ear constantly to go. Just kinda bothered me and got me thinking if success to early might of contributed to him losing interest after seeing him not so fired up this year. If he never wants to hunt again that's fine too.

Dont over think it hes young. Mine shot a 140 12 with a drop tine for his second deer. Hes busy a lot now in high school with sports, girls, friends, etc... Hes hunted once this season. I know he still likes hunting and says hes going more next year he is just busy and enjoys sleeping in on Saturday.

My guess is it's puberty. They start wanting to make their own decisions when they are turning into young men. Even if they are silly choices, they want independence. Letting them shoot a good deer that showed up, at least in my estimation is as good as it gets. At that age my son did the same thing. The faster pace of bird hunting with more frequent and more difficult shooting, a dog working, and no requirement to be still proved to be more to his taste.
