I have a 20 year old Ruger Woodside over and under that I have had Larry Pockrus and Docs in Carrollton work on the firing pins One or the other starts acting up. Last season I could spray oil them before I left for the hunt and they would be fine but that stopped working this year. Any tips on the best of the best shotgun guy around DFW?

Last time I used McClellands for shotgun work it took 5 months and wasn’t fixed properly.

Has Larry officially retired? I know he lost his vision but not sure if it returned.

Scott Mayes works on all the high dollar Beretta's at the Beretta Gallery in the Highland Park Village. Call ahead, make sure he's there or they can give you his number.

If he cant fix it, refer to top of my post. Oh, and if you go to the Gallery Store, be prepare for greatness if you're a shotgun guy. OMG !!!

Send it to Ruger, they should warranty it.

I called Mcclellands and they started with Buzzsaws idea, but then said my best shot at someone having parts etc would be to send it into Ruger. My first thought was to get it cleaned up again where it will go three years before sputtering again and then sell it, but hate to do that to somebody. I mainly use it on a couple of pheasant hunts each year so its worth the money to ship it to Ruger and see if they can get it to last five or six. I shoot the thing a lot better than a newer lighter Franchi, so hate to give up on the clunker.

I guess I hunt in the wrong circles, "clunker" is something I've never heard a Red Label called. I had the same kind of issue with an older red pad fixed choke Red Label. Took it to my smith, he sent it to Ruger and they fixed it for free. Can't remember exactly what the issue was but I used it for about a year trouble free then traded it off. Miss having it, don't miss shooting it

Chalet - when I say clunker I mean from a reliability perspective. BTW, the head gunsmith at Mcclelands said to push them to try and fix my old woodside vs buying a replacement at a reduced price, as the new ones have a similar problem
