Looking for suggestions for upland hunting trips (pheasant, quail, chukar, grouce, etc) less than a days drive from Dallas. I'm not originally from the area so I have no clue where to go. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Would do either public land or pay. I'm originally from Wisconsin but now live in Dallas.

If your from Wisconsin you should like woodcock. Go to Louisiana. Woodcock heaven. Very under used area for hunting woodcock. Good amount of public.
To me Kansas is pounded hard by bird hunters.

I was looking for a pheasant hunt ( I've never hunted them before) and found The Prairie's End Hunt Club in North Texas. www.texasbirdhunt.com I've never been out there myself so I can't vouch for them but I'm thinking of booking a trip to check it out.

It's a really well run operation and the birds fly as close to wild as I have ever seen.
