At a club shoot this last weekend, and they add on a turkey shoot for thanksgiving. The eye of the turkey is the target, and I thought I came pretty close to taking it out, but another guy shooting a larger caliber took out the entire eye ! Oh well, win some lose some....there is always the ham shoot for Christmas...

25 yds.. Christmas shoot will have something similar at the same distance probably. You are working on a target area of about 1/2 inch to make it a challenge. I love muzzleloading matches as they can get pretty inventive as far as their targets.

"Almost got a turkey?" Not so Old Stony. You darn sure got that turkey. You just didn't win the bird. Good shooting sir!

I have a fair selection of muzzleloaders and lately at the matches, I have been using a full stock Hawken I am quite fond of. It has a 35 inch Sharon barrel and is in .50 caliber. I only shoot patched round balls for hunting or target shooting. A good friend (actually the guy that got me started shooting muzzleloaders) gave me the barrel and stock for this rifle years ago. He was a dedicated muzzleloader and taught me a lot about it, but unfortunately has passed on since.
