We had been seeing this buck on our game cameras for the past couple years. He was pretty regular from spring to fall, then would disappear from October to March, rarely got a daylight picture. Well, he messed up this year, and my hubby was lucky enough to harvest him. The taxidermist I took him to said that in the 20 years he's been doing it, he's seen 3, including ours, but ours was by far the largest he knows of. We are still in shock that we were lucky enough to get him.(in the last pic you can see he had a frank, but no beans. Also, there were two teets on each side)

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Very interesting! One heck of a trophy, that's for sure. Congratulations to your hubby; and thanks to you for sharing with us!

Those do make for interesting antlers if allowed to go long enough. At least do not have to worry about them passing along their genes.

A lot of the stags I’ve seen were born a buck and for whatever reason, injury or fluke, their testicals never drop. Had a 2 yr old that was a hard horned regular buck then at 3 his testicles didn’t drop that fall and he was a stag from then on. When we killed him there was no visible sign of injury.

Have heard of some leases that kill stags every season which would lead me to believe it’s genetics in that particular herd but who knows.

Cool deer!

I saw a nice hard antler 8 point killed in Mississippi when I was in school. He had no testicles or scrotum. H did have a small abscess there and an injury to a rear leg. I suspect he got hung in a fence or some other injury that did it to him.

Wow, that was the day to have bought a lotto ticket, probably better odds of winning than seeing that even once, congrats, no doubt will be a show piece for many years.

How do antler restrictions apply to these?
