And don’t get Savage they mostly suck

As a beginner's rifle, savages do not suck at all. They are not as pretty as some rifles, the stocks do not have as nice of a feel as some other rifles, and the action does not cycle as smooth as some other rifles, but they have a well earned reputation for being accurate rifles. For the money, they ARE good.

Lots of good info on 22’s over here
www.rimfirecentral.com

I’ll go against the grain and say get a semi-auto 22 rifle. If you only put 1 round in a semi-auto, you basically have a fancy bolt action. The 10/22 is a great rifle and very easy to customize down the road if you decide you want to spice things up a little.

I also like my sons Smith and Wesson 15-22. Nice rifle and never jams. The adjustable stock also makes it easy to use for different size shooters

Thanks,
Rich

Henry lever action rifles are always a good choice for a 22.

Deff start with a small caliber like the 22, then work your way up. I bought my wife her first deer rifle last year and we BOTH love it! Look into the Weatherby Camillia rifles.... Her's is in a .243 caliber and she handles it just fine.

My kids started with a 17hmr shooting at rabbits, raccoons and such for a good long while before they shot a deer rifle. I think it was a great starter gun. And we still use it all the time.

When we went to the deer hunting, I worried a lot about what kind of gun they could handle. My kids are small. We started with a .223, which worked great until it didn't on a pretty good sized buck that was hit in a pretty good spot. Then, to my surprise, I found out they could handle my .270 just fine. So when it is deer rifle time, I'd go straight to a .243 or a .270 (and I personally prefer the .270).

Whatever you do, don't google "muttmutt1" with the quotations to see if others have used this handle on other sites....

I think "she" has gone back to her first love of catfishing. Smelled bad from the start.
