Do you have any more pics of him? Its hard to gauge an age from a pic of him facing straight at us. One of the main indicators as to estimating age is his belly. Beautiful 9 though!!! the one behind him also look like he is probably wider than 13" as well. Get this group a few more pics and the age will guessing will begin for sure though!!!

Upper 120's to maybe 130 on the buck on the right of photo. Hard to judge age in that photo. He is a middle-aged buck(3-4)at least but his head makes him appear to be 5. Better broadside photos will help with age guesses on him.

Yep. Deer on the right is well over 15". Angle is hard but I would say 4.5, mid 120s. Deer on the left will likely make ARs as well.

I'd say about a 16 inch 3 year old. 115 to 120 on the score.

I also would say 3.5....I would love to see him in a couple of years but it might be hard to pass up a shot if he comes around.

The last photo makes me think he is older than what he looks like with the leggy look. You do not see young bucks with that kind of stained hocks at that time in Sept. Older bucks will and will keep some staining year round. He will look different in about 3 weeks from now. Be interested to see some pics of him then if you get some. I have been wrong before but he has some other characteristics on a deer older than 3 IMO.

He could easily be 4.5. Unless you know the area very well, deer look different in different areas. Kinda like people...
If this is Stephen's county, I can assure you he is older than one thinks. Deer looking skinny there but racks looking good this year. My buddy has one pushing 150 and body is tiny. It's not a young deer. They hardly got a drop of rain for many many months in parts there. Texas drought meter was not accurate there. Ponds went dry for first time ever but showed only moderate drought. Most didn't get rain until a few weeks ago.

Lot of things can make a deer appear younger than they look...born in a drought year, had another drought year after the first year, been a twin in born in a bad year or they were orphaned a little to early. I am sticking with my thought that he is 5. He had a deep dished forehead also for a deer that does not have much mass. I have seen bucks in South Texas that have the same face and forehead colors as this buck that were 5 yrs old. Those characteristics were not normal for most of the deer on that ranch. I would not be surprised if this buck is older than 5, but think he is more of a 5 yr old from these photos. Another 3-4 weeks will show more. Deer in different areas look different but they still show a lot of the same characteristics of older deer where ever they live. Just may not have the massive or thicker body of a deer in other areas. I have seen photos of an east Texas deer that looks just like this one from OP and that buck was over 10+ yrs old. Guy has photos history from trail cameras of him year after year. 99% of the people guess his age at 3 or 4 yrs old. I have been lucky enough to see deer in person while hunting or from photos from regions all over the state. Beauty of trail cameras is you have a history year after year to find those deer.

3.5 15-16" wide. I would pass on those deer, not give it a second thought.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
