Just took this WY Area 1 mountain goat on the 5th day of an adventure I will never forget. Goats were scarce in our target area so we were on Plan C. Almost 30 miles of hiking (much of it above 10,000’) looking for a nice goat finally paid off when we were able to get above this big guy and he popped out straight below us at less than 100 yards. 9 3/8” on each side, heavy, and beautifully furred. Taken in the Beartooths - could see MT from where I shot him. Socked in with snow as I write this. Got him just in time. 
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Congrats, that is a tough hunt! And it looks as though he didn't barrel roll down the mountain....bonus!

I have seen those mountains from Montana where the Crazy Mountains also have some goats.
