Just picked up my Yoder YS640 with competition cart a couple days ago. They are pricey, but very well made. Weighs over 460LBS. Heat goes higher if needed and is supposed to hold the heat very well.

I have a rec tec 680 and recently upgraded to the wi-fi controller.
I can turn it on and off, change temp, and monitor 2 temp probes all while away from the house. The app tracks and plots temperature vs time so I can see how each probe is changing over time and estimate when it will reach desired temp. The app crashes alot (but other than that) I love the wifi option
I've had it about 2 years and burned more than 500 pounds of pellets and haven't had a problem

I found a place that sells a couple Traeger models basically at half price with no tax and free shipping. Picked up a Traeger Elite 34 this past week. I’m extremely pleased with the results. Can get it up to 450 degrees to cooks burgers, steaks, etc. Doing jerky on it right now and doing beef short ribs tomorrow. My dad has had one for years and has nothing but good things to say about it.

One of the reasons I bought a Yoder is because you can get temps much higher than other pellet grills. Great for searing steaks. Also it is built like a tank and holds heat like no other. Mine weighs 461LBS with the competition cart

818 F !?!!? That's incredible
How many pounds of pellets does it take to get that giant thing to 818 F? Also.. how long does it take to get that hot? I use my 4 burner propane Weber to Sear steaks because the rectec takes too long to get to it's max temp (about 450 F most days).

I have not gotten it that hot personally. Dealer told me it would get to 750. That was on Yoder Facebook page. I do like that it is capable of much higher temps

I love my Rec Tec. It's a fantastic cooker. Great with chicken pork, burgers and ribs. Only complaint I have with it is brisket. I just can't get the right about of smoke I want, but I'm VERY close. I've learned just to cook at a lower temps and use a quality pellet. Hottest I've ever gotten mine is 600, with the searing kit my laser thermometer read over 700.
If I had to do it all over again instead of getting the 680 I would have gotten the small Trailblazer and a Bullseye which is there pellet kettle and it can reach temps of 800 degrees.

I have a pit boss Austin XL and love it! Although the more I see these yoders the more I debate buying one in the future when I decide to upgrade
First one down, many many more to come!

Well here’s the rest of the story
Second time I tried to use the pit boss it started giving errors. I called the company and they basically were gonna send me new parts. Which was great but didn’t help that I had people coming and 150 dollars worth of meat.
I called Cabelas and they said bring it back. I did and got a brand new one. Used it one time and went out last night to start smoking again. And guess what. It won’t come on. Manual says to take everything out and take it apart and look for loose connections.
This is the second time for me to use the second smoker. Gonna call them today and this time I am looking for a refund.
