I am looking at options on a good 20 ga over and under. Budget from $1000 to $2,000 at the max. Want a light weight double to bird hunt quail and dove with. I want good value and a nice looking gun to boot. Give me opinions on brands and why I should consider them please. I am a left handed shooter and have a 12 gauge Benelli SBE II I love but it seems like overkill for dove at times.
Go.

Just picked up a CZ wingshooter elite for less than 1000. Its bo silver pigeon but it light enough and nice enough for the GF. My main turn on were no auto safety and mechanical trigger. The old beretta s55 went down 2 weekends ago and it's an inertia firing system and the bottom barrel wouldnt fire 70% of the time. With a mech trigger, both will strike EVERY single time.

I had a Browning Citori which is a very nice gun, I just could not hit anything with it. Sold it to my brother and bought a Winchester 101. Love it! There are a number of nice shotguns in that price range. Finding the one that fits you is the key. Best bet is to hit every gun shop you can find and check out their inventory. Go to Cabela's and Bass Pro if you can as they usually have a fair selection. What works for me may not fit you at all.

bobcat1, I too am a left handed shooting bird hunter. I shoot over unders. Browning Citori Lightning and White Lightning suit me. They are cast neutral and have enough drop to fit me well. In a 20 it is pretty sweet. Other models of Browning over unders I have handled will be either cast off or cast on, so you will need to find a lefty. I also have a left hand stocked Beretta Silver Pigeon. Beretta puts enough cast in their over unders that as a lefty you will need a left hand stocked shotgun. They can be hard to find. I've shot them for some time. In a comparison, my impression is the Beretta is lighter and quick pointing. It feels more lively in my hands. The Lightning is a little heavier than the Pigeon. I like the Balance of the Lightning in my hands better. The Beretta is a better looking shotgun and I wanted to like it more. I shoot the White Lightning a little better though so it is what I use most. I rate them to be of equal quality. You should be able to find either one within your budget. Choose the one that fits you best.

CZ, Yildiz, Beretta, Winchester/Browning and others. Go to some of the Sporting Clays/Trap/Skeet sights there will be all sorts for sale that should fit both yourself as a lefty and your budget.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

I'm right handed but left eye dominate so I also shoot left handed. I have a browning citori featherlite 20g and I love that gun. stock is neutral like mentioned above. I average about 30 shells for a limit all season long. I almost got the beretta silver pigeon but wanted a browning. (I do shoot a beretta A400 at ducks though)

Consider the Franchi Instinct L or SL . Very nice for a reasonable O/U and made in Italy by parent company Benelli.

I was about to tell you, if you have a Benelli, and can hit with it, stick with Benelli. Their guns point different than others out there. I can't hit squat with them. It would be a decent difference for you to be bouncing back and forth between a Benelli and any other brand.

Had an M2 that shot great before and sold it to a friend that loves it.
