Found a needle in a haystack today and picked up a Ruger M77 Stainless paddle stock in 260 Rem.
Anyone have any good loads for the 260? The only other similar round I’m loading for in a Ruger M77 is a 6.5 Creed but I’d love to get some input on what you guys are loading for your 260 Rems.
The seller gave me a bunch of brass and about a hundred rounds of 140 core lokt so I have some brass to experiment with. Thanks for your input THF

I love the Ruger 77, I still have 4 or them. My first one I got in the 90s was a stainless 308 with a boat paddle. That stock was so ugly but so functional. It was rock solid, much better than the tupperware stocks of it's time. I think it's funny how much people love those boat paddles now. I don't have any 260 loads but wanted to congratulate you on your score. up

I love those things. I’d be willing to bet you’ll need to shoot 120s out of it. Haven’t looked up the twist but when that was built I bet it’s 1:10-11.

Congratulations on the find.

.260 Rem often does the same thing as a 6.5 Creedmoor with one more grain of powder.

I had a Ruger 77 in 260 for a few years. I had a great load for 100 gr Nosler BTs over imr4064 (near max), and a great load for the 120 gr BT over R17. When I got the Tikka in 260, those loads with minor tweaking are what I use now. I don’t shoot heavier bullets than that. Don’t need heavier for deer and pigs. PM me if you want specifics.

For hunting, the 100 gr Barnes TTSX has worked well for me at around 3100 fps with H414, F210's, and Lapua brass.

H4350 is a good powder, but never available, so tried the H414 which is and it works really well.

Thank y’all for the info!!

On a side note.... cleaning it today I found out that some one had a little to much fun with a file. The trigger has been filed enough that one out of five times it will discharge by simply dropping the safety. Ordering a Timney tomorrow and then I can get back to testing loads.

I'm pretty sure mine is 1:8 twist. Shoots 140 Core-Lokt's like butter.
