Just started putting it out after the season was over. Was wanting to know if any of you had noticed if you had better results with it than just plain ol corn?

I have tried it all! Just plain ole corn works just as good as any other bait I have tried!

Are you referring to the Horn Corn with roasted soybean?

If so, I used it for several years. The advantage is that the soybean is very high protein. And yes they will eat it up.
The disadvantage is that they don't seem to eat as much of it during the hot summer months.

Yes. I know they are tearing it up pretty good. There are already many, many trails that have made in just a few months leading to the feeder. We found two sets of sheds and five singles right around the feeder the first weekend of turkey season. LOTS of traffic
I was really wanting to know about the antler growth not if they would eat it more than regular corn. Should have said that the first post.

Yes, I firmly believe that it made a difference on our place.

Any additional protein consumed helps the animals.

Any time that you add more protein to the diet of deer, it will produce results. You will not see results immeadiately. If you are feeding it consistently and they become accustomed to it, then it will be several years before you notice drastic results. You also have to have a great management program.

+1 we have used it for 3 years and they love the soybean once they get the taste for it. It adds weight and mass just like any other protein supplement. IMO

The dust from the soybean is what clogged up our feeders. If you are going to spend the money on the horn corn just start feeding protien.

I've never had ANY problems with clogging either. It throws great from any feeder that I have seen it used in.

No problems with ours either. We do a half corn half horn corn mix in ours. That may help anyone that has had problems with it before.

Thanks for everyones replies. Just getting excited for this upcoming season. Cant wait to see what kind of genetics got spread last year and the year before. Hope the HC helps em out a little. November cant come fast enough for me.

Yes I have fed it in the past. And my hunting buddy and I have concluded that it appears that more bucks will frequent that particular feeder versus those feeding straight corn (outside of the rut). I believe deer seek what they need. In the rut they are seeking food for energy, thus corn which is full of carbs which equals lots of energy, outside of the rut, they will seek complete nutrition which roasted soybeans provides excellent protein (48%)which will certainly benefit the animal including improved antlered growth. Horn corn provides both, energy and protein. IMO.

We feed Mr. Buck brand which is way cleaner than Horn Korn. There is no dust...

I tried it a few years back mixing roasted soybeans with corn and putting it in my feeder, but after two feeder fulls it would rot on the ground. Even the coons would'nt touch it. I've never seen a deer touch it, so I quit using it.

I feed Indian corn. I can not tell is the horns are getting bigger, because we have been feeding it for about 20 years. The bucks in our area have allways been pretty good size. But what I do know is that they stay at the feeder longer and seem to like it better than regular corn. We think they like looking at the different colors.

I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!

Blackeyed peas are also very good for body weight and horn mass

I bought some Mr. Buck three weeks ago at Owens Supply in Childress for $10.35 a 50lb. bag. A friend of mine is buying the same Mr. Buck south of brownwood for around $9.50 a bag, but I do not know the feed store name.

We mix this in our protein feeders about 2/3 protein 1/3 Mr. Buck and they love it. Have not tried it in a spin cast. Another friend of mine hunts on the Red River in Oklahoma just north of Gainesville and swears his deer will not eat it.
