This is a nice little female bobcat we took this winter on a ranch we work for and manage wildlife. About 39 inches and decent fur. Fur buyer only offered $250 so we opted to keep her and get it tanned. Off to Moyle's with a fluffy little bandit we also caught.

You got her in a trap, what did you use for lure/bait?

We used a sight attractant on a trail set with some urine. $250 is low for our cats. Our trapping mentor got $1,200 for a hide at auction a few years back. We made $350 on one medium heavy cat year before last. We need to get them put up by Feb for the best price. Powder River Cat call and Hiawatha Valley Pred bait for this winter.
We'll hit them again this winter and hit the coyotes up early, November is prime for our coyotes if you want to sell them. Guard hairs gets rubbed off early in winter up here.
Moyle charges $31 for a bobcat and does a great job.

Wytex - what process does Moyle's use in tanning? Alum?

I could not tell you. They do a nice job though. Many trappers use them around here. We have 2 bison hides tanned by them and are very happy. I also have several beaver that look very nice. Prices are good and turn around depends, sometimes a wait . It gives you time to get the hides payed off before they are ready. Check this video out , might answer your questions.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYrZchvV6Rg

This cat , taken in 14, got us $350. He was a semi heavy 39" cat trapped just after Thanksgiving, a little early for a premium price.

Moyle tells me 4-5 months on the coon and bobcat hides. $66 for both to be tanned and shipped.

Got the furs back today. They were done before Christmas but Moyle held shipping til after our holiday travels. Good folks to deal with. They turned out really nice, bobcat shrunk about 2 inches or so but they say can be re hydrated and stretched if wanted. No need to do it though. The leather side is soft and no big holes on either fur. I'll hang it for a few days and the tanning smell will go away. The bandit turned out nice as well. He was a nice, mid January raccoon, medium size. We were offered $250 for the dried cat but chose to have it tanned and glad we did. Any nice ones taken this coming month will be sold.

Sprung the traps for this week, waiting for snow to melt off some. Don't want another miss due to frozen traps.
