Not good. My daughter and son in law run cattle in Archer County. They have been moving them to other pastures farther from the fire. Haven't heard from SIL today but I know they have been fighting the fires for 3 days. He told me they were started by lightning.

I figured that space heater in the second photo started the fire. NOt really. Not good for the landowners but good for the habitat. Wife and I were looking at buying a few hundred acres ranch in Archer County. I'll have to see if it has been affected by the fire.

Not sure, like I said I haven't heard from SIL today but reports say over 5,000 acres have burned since Sunday. Big fire last week was caused by a branding iron. SIL told me the latest ones were caused by lightning. Their place is south of Lake Kickapoo.

I have not heard what initially started the fire over the weekend however the one that started on 210 and burned north was allegedly started by a truck dragging a tow chain....but that is just a rumor at this point.

I'm pretty sure the fire that started on 79 Sunday was started by lightning. I was hauling off trash after the storm blew through and saw the smoke. When I got to the smoke the VFD was just showing up.

Looks like all 5 of them are 100% contained. Nearly 6000 acres scrorched. Now the Waggoner Ranch is on fire - 5700 acres and only 25% contained.
