I have a Colt H-Bar with 18" barrel, and freefloat aluminum handgaurd. What woud be a ball park value for this gun? I have a different lower on it now, the one that is made here in Houston. How much is it worth, considering taking it to gun show this weekend.

So, what you have is an upper with some Colt parts on some other lower.

It is a complete colt upper I believe. On a different lower.

I never saw a 18in Colt upper, but I am no expert either, most of the Colts were 16, 20 and 24... Maybe they were close to 18 with the flash suppressor removed during the early ban years

it doesnt have a threaded muzzle and a cut down fsb. 1000 would be a good deal for you

Without a pony on the lower, I wouldn't expect to get a premium for the parts. You might get more parting it out. If the upper is 100% colt, you might get more putting it on AR15.com, and selling the lower locally.
RR lowers were selling for $299 (with 6pos stock) brand new at the last FW gunshow.
A model 1 M4 upper, with bolt carrier, bolt, charging handle, and flip up rear sight sold for $590.
With cash, and legwork, you could walk out with a shorty AR with all new parts for around $850-900.

well, here's my opinion. i'm not for ripping people off, but i built a basic hbar about 6 months ago just to sell and make a bit of cash on. i enjoy building them for friends. i build one pretty similar to that one you have and because of the inflated prices on parts, and the huge waiting list, it cost me around 850$ to build without a site on it. my buddy backed out after i built it (he had a good excuse) so i went to the san angelo gun show with it. i slopped it over my shouldter with a sign that said "for sale 1000$". when i walked in and saw all the AR's going for over 1500, i raised my price to 1300$. I sold it in less than 15 minutes for 1200$ CASH. you never know what people are willing to pay.
