Not bad, accurate. Depends one what you are shooting. I've killed several deer with them. Buddy killed a nice buck at 300 yards with .243 and 90 grain BT. Blew out the other side, but broke up into pieces. Didn't matter, did what it was suppose to do and killed the deer. Only ran about 30- yards

it all depends. I like the accubonds and tsx, but do shoot the 180 gr winchester ballistic silvertips out of one 300wm and have really liked that combination.

I shoot the Federal Vital Shock 130 grain ballistics and have had success. I've killed pigs and deer with them. Occasionally they do not punch through but the fragmentation does the job.

They are VERY accurate in all hunting loads in several calibers I've reloaded for. It's hard to find a better deer bullet than a Ballistic Tip, and I've shot a wagon load of whitetails and two sheep (an aoudad and a Rocky Mountain bighorn) with them.
But being cup-and-core bullets and unbonded too, I would think a wise hunter would choose a bit stouter bullet for elk-size and larger. I've shot six caribou, none with a Ballistic Tip, but I think the BT would work just fine on these easy-to-kill animals too.
My brother and I are leaving tomorrow for Alaska black bear hunting. I'll be shooting Swift A-Frames in my .338 and he will have Partions loaded in his .30-06. No way would I consider a Ballsitc Tip for bear, but undoubtably, someone has taken a bruin with one, just as Eskimos and Athabascans occasionally take polar bears with .223s.

They tend to get a bad rap for tearing up meat but they kill really well. I use them in my 25-06 (100gr)and 308 (150gr).

i shoot the BTs at all my deer, too expensive to waste on the ole swine though. they group a lil better than the reg core lokt and what not, they also have much more killing power IMO.

Just make sure to stay behind the shoulder and not in it on deer. They really ruin alot of meat imo. My 270 didn't like them at all, bout 3" groups at 100 yds.

i used one in my .270 and it left me wanting more.
imo the ballistic tips really shine in .30 caliber, i've seen some 150 grain bullets do some real work on critters.
imo they open up too fast in sub .30 caliber bullets, if you hit solid meat or bone they tend to blow up, now i'm not saying they would be great for lung shots, but for me a shoulder shot is an anchor shot, and my confidence is not with them in my .270

lol,
mine shot pretty well. actually very good. i just never had much confidence in them. i know several hunters who swear by them though, and they never lose animals

I have been using 140gr ones in a 7mm-08 since they first came out over 20 years ago adn have had no problems with them. I use them in other rounds as well 308, 243, 257 roberts, 7mmSTW, 270 WSM... but deer size critters is where I draw the line, I like Partitions, X-bullets and such for ELK.

I refuse to shoot them in anything less than a 7mag, I know they'll work, but I have way more confidence in something that will hold together in the smaller calibers. For my 270 I like the old school 130gr win silvertips..and shoot the same in 150gr in the 30-06. Finding them is beginning to be a problem though.
