Look down a quarter mile drag strip. That's 60 yards shy of 500 yards.

Yeah, I hunt mule deer with my bolt gun (7mm mag) and I've followed them with the glass at 600-700, but my longest kill shot is only 465.(lazer ranged, scope doped before hand for that exact shot down to a cut bank) It's a good step out there at 500.

To your credit, "only" does not belong in front of 465 yards. That is serious shooting. up

I just built a 6.5 Creedmoor on an Aero M5 received set and a Ballistic Advantage 20” fluted Barrel. Price tag came in at around $1200 before glass. Granted I dropped some money in the Magpul PRS stock and a 17.5” Handguard from parallax along with a 2 stage Gissele Trigger. All in all if you went the 6.5 route, you can build one at a pretty decent price.

FiremanJG - what would it cost for me to stretch out my 6.5 on your range?

It is $40 to come use the place, all day if you wish. I'll just need to see you know what to do, to at least keep the bullets on the berms.
