The dang squirrels and raccoons are wasting all my protein. I am trying to figure out a way to stop them from getting into it. The squirrels go inside the tube and remove large quantities of protein and it just wastes on the ground. Here is my feeder any suggestions please post.

Here is a pic of one in the tube, I am thinking of either mounting a piece of plywood above the tube that extends past it so they can't reach it, or making something on the end of the tube where they can't reach in.

You need to take those t-posts out and get some 2" pvc pipe and slide them over the poles and cut a peace about 3" long on the bottom so it will slide and twist when they try to climb up it. Had the same problem with my corn feeder and that fixed the problem!

Man I hate to think of pulling up those T-posts, but I may have to do that. I can't get my tractor in there with the pen I just made.
Thanks

goodluck, if a deer has access to it, usually a cat squirrel will to, they'll hop up in the thing from the ground..

they might be able to reach that from a ground, but to slow em down u might try putting some homemade cones around each leg. Squirrels are sneaky guys and will usuaully find a way to get there. check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAJIaEJChE8

It is pretty high, the deer have to reach for it. I think it is over 3 feet off the ground. Don't know how high a squirrel can jump.

One thing I've used that worked pretty good on coons was to attach carper "tack-strips" to the legs. I used three per leg and wired them solid against it. They will stick anything that gets close to them and might help you some.

That "carper tack-strips" should have read "carpet tack-strips" (and did in my mind)
