I voted never, but I do like my eyes! I guess if you consider sunglasses proper eye protection then I would say about 90% of the time while dove hunting!

Duck hunting I dont wear sunglasses simply because it is so early in the morning when they fly I just dont need them!

Everyone should really wear them all the time though! On one of the leases I hunted a few years ago the land owner had one of his eyes shot out from across the pond while dove hunting! A $2 pair of saftey glasses would have most likly saved that eye!

yep thats why i wear mine when dove hunting now!!!!! and ya most of the time sunglasses are enough to protect u. One of my coaches got shot like that and it shattered his sunglasses. probably saved both of his eyes!

I've gotten so used to looking through my yellow shooting glasses that I feel like I can't see without them.

I hate eyepro because I had to wear them everyday for a year while deployed. I rarely even wear my sunglasses now because I hated it so much. However, they really do provide protection. Definitely had more than one casualtys' eyes saved in Iraq because of the eyepro. Be sure to get the ANSI (ANCI?) rated ones. The cheap ones aren't very good. Excellent eyepro is available for about $15.

I don't normally hunt upland game and birds. But when I did years ago I wore eye protection when hunting with others.

Members of Congress should be compelled to wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could identify their corporate sponsors.

I wear glasses all the time, so I guess I'm always protected.

Every time I hunt, I wear my Zeiss shooting glasses, for protection and to cut down sun glare and uv rays. Most of the time when I'm outdoors, I will wear sunglasses of some type.

I always dove hunt with shades. If I'm deer hunting and the sun is out, the shades are one.

I guess if you would have added Oakley sunglasses, it would have been all the time

After getting some back-burn powder while shooting skeet in the late 70's, I wear eye protection all the time while shooting! Once you lose your eyesight or even have less ability to see clearly, you just might change your mind.

I was lucky enough to have save both my eyes from a conditiion resulting from contracting Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and only had 6 months to see IF I didn't take actions with lazer, which didn't help, then major surgery fixed it and that wasn't 100% guarantee to have 20/20!

I don't take my eyesight for granted none whatsoever...not when you once can see and then the next day you loose total vision!!

I won't shoot without glasses on. I had a friend do some reloads for me many moons ago. One round was extremely "hot"

Destroyed my revolver and I picked schrapnel out of my face for 2 weeks. If it weren't for the glasses I'd prolly be blind.

Put em on folks.

I guess I should, I've cataracts removed from both eyes (about $10k) .... never wear protection while hunting and should wear it while on the ATV have been poked near or in the eye several times. I know from when I did have the cataracts that beening blind would SUCK!

That sounds scary. Glad you are ok, and that you were wearing eye protection!

Eye protection is one of the most over-looked safety issues in the country.

There's not much data on hunting incidents involving eye damage, but it's possible.

A person is more likely to cause eye damage from washing a car or mixing paint than from a gun.
