There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

If they start it like they did Ray Roberts and not allow motors for quite some time it would be great. Give the average poor guy a few years to enjoy it.

John Christie is gonna cash in on this. He bought up a bunch of land in that area knowing that the lake was going in. Another resovoir will help to decrease the stress on out other N TX lakes by providing another water source. I don't see it hurting the duck hunting any, it might help it by providing more habitat, and maybe reduce some of the hunting pressure on other lakes in the area. Have spent some time in the area over the years and were not losing much, the meth heads will have less places to cook meth so another win.

I officially name this the lake to be named when everyone shows up in August and asks where they can duck hunt. "Yep, go on out to Bow-dark creek reservoir. You'll slay 'em up there." We got at least two duck seasons. By the time 2020 rolls around we can talk about it in the open and everyone will think we're just messin' with 'em
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

SHERMAN, TX—Two Collin County, Texas men, including the former mayor of the city of Melissa, have been sentenced to federal prison in connection with a bribery scheme in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales. David E. Dorman, 66, of Melissa, Texas, pleaded guilty on January 7, 2013, to mail fraud and was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release today by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone. Dorman was also ordered to submit to forfeiture of $30,000. John Christie, 65, of Frisco, Texas, pleaded guilty on January 4, 2013, to misprision of a felony and was sentenced to six months in federal prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release, today by Judge Crone. Christie was also ordered to relinquish his real estate license for the duration of his sentence and term of supervised release and was fined $5,000. According to information presented in court, in 2007, Dorman, then mayor of the city of Melissa, solicited a $70,000 bribe from Christie in exchange for arranging for the city of Melissa to annex a portion of land from the city of McKinney, Texas, in order for Christie to develop and sell the land to potential customers. Based on a letter from Dorman, the cities of Melissa and McKinney approved the annexation, and, in exchange, Christie made one $10,000 cash payment and two $10,000 payments by check to Dorman. The men were initially named in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on September 12, 2012. “Public officials are held to the highest standard of conduct and owe their communities honest, faithful service,” said U.S. Attorney Bales. “David Dorman breached the trust that he held, and we hold him, as we would hold any corrupt public official, fully accountable for his crime.” This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shamoil T. Shipchandler. This content has been reproduced from its original source.

I don't wanna be a know it all but I've known since 2012/13 when they bought a friends land out. That guy made out well.....lucky dog. I thought it was well known by 2015 when all the studies and maps were released !?!? There's a lot of good land and duck holes going under with it, we shall see how the ducks like it. There's also going to be a lot of displaced pigs -Matt

There's a lot of good land and duck holes going under with it I noticed that. There is at least one property with a managed wetland that will be lake bottom. Sucks that someone put all that into it and for the folks that are losing priceless family land.

I tell ya all these lakes I'm on I see fence lines, still holding up, and ponds, and I think about the land owners, that was their home. It is sad but many things in life are sad. BTW, this is not the first time this lake has been discussed on the internet, and on this forum. Been discussed for years.

Government land grab. Should be illegal So if it was illegal, there would be no lakes in Texas. Really you are saying that?
