Well, after taking some advice, I went to the local archery shop and shot a Mathews Drenalin and a Hoyt Katera. Both were really, really smooth. The only noticeable differences were the grip (Drenalin was a bit fatter) and the weight (Drenalin was lighter).

I found a used Drenalin with the following setup: whisker biscuit rest, Vital Bow sight, 3 arrow quiver, string tamer, and 1/2 dozen Gold Tip arrows. All for $660 shipped. Is this a good deal? The bow looks brand new...all I need now is a release, case, and broadheads. Maybe some other things to tweak it after shooting a bit.

I think you could do better or same with some better components like the rest for example.

Sounds high to me. I agree with BIL, at $650 you are paying about $500 for the bow and $150 for the asseccories. I-M-O that is not worth it.

If the bow is pretty new and in good shape I would say get it.

A lot depends on the shape of the bow, and how it was taken care of. Dren's are not old bows. Some of the components have to the chance of being low end on this bow. Even so, you can go buy that bow new for around $820.

My DXT is up for sale on this site for $600 bare bow, and $750 for the package. So, in my humble opinion, it's not high if the bow's been well taken care of. The components on my bow are all pretty high end though.

Long and short of it is that if it pleases you, buy it. You're not going to get a couple of hundred lower, so you're not getting stiffed. The shape of the bow and how many shots that have been run through it mean more than anything else.

Thanks for the responses. The going used rate for Drenalin is about $500 +- $25. This bow is in fantastic shape. Some of the components will probably need replacing down the line, but I don't think I will find a Drenalin in better shape for cheaper.

Yes, I've been looking. Nothing in a 27" DL though. But the 28-29s have been listed for $500-550 bare over there. If a 27" DL came along, I would have jumped on it.

On these Mathews bows you change the draw length by changing the cam. Any time you purchase a used bow it's a good idea to run it down to your local pro shop and have them give it the once over anyway, so run by one, and ask them how much they'd charge you to swap out the cam on a 29" to a 27" Dren.

Their price might just surprise you. Drens are new enough that a lot of shops will have the cams on hand and will just swap them out for labor.

For that much it should come with a case and they can keep the arrows. Needs a better rest as well. Sounds like a bad deal to me. Too much money. Like it's about $100-$150 too high.
