Anyone else fallowing the N.D. Floods, most of the N.D. pot holes should boom this year, lots of rain means lots of brood area, maybe a good hatch all around this year, now if we can get some fall rains and some early cold fronts....fingers crossed!

I heard if it rains after the birds nest it can flood their eggs. I am not sure on what kind of timing we should look for though.

they arent nesting yet. if they are nesting this early, and they flood, most will make a second attempt anyway.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

Won't be able to get in there to check for a few days but I'd guess it probably is. Drains off fairly fast so all may not be lost.

Hopefully not. We needed the rain but dang, talk about all at once. I hope we get something like this come October.

Boy I hope so! The greenheads were kind of thin around here this year, though we had plenty of everything else.
Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

The habitat report in the current DU has more green on it than I have seen in a number of years. It's shaping up to be a good breeding year. If it stays wet through next spring, the 10/11 season is going to be legendary.
