They have mixed reviews. They use basically the same inertia driven syatem as Benelli shotguns. I have heard that if you break them in with some 3" shells they will cycle light loads after break-in. They are significantly cheaper than Benellis.

I'm looking at the Stoeger 2000 too. Haven't heard much about them, but it seems like a decent gun for the price. I'd hope it doesn't have trouble with lighter loads.

People love to say they are made by benelli...they really arnt and if you think you are getting a benelli you arnt. Being owned by the same company doesnt mean you are getting the same product.

These guns have had a very clear pattern of causing many owners lots of problems. Any kind of gun will have a lemon or two but it seems like a very high percentage of the owners of these guns have to send them back for repairs.

For the money I'd go with about a half dozen other shotguns before I went with this one.

also, no recoil relief on the stoeger. the gas operated guns are easier on the shoulder. put a sims pad on if you get it.

my friend bought a stoeger recently from another friend of mine, its action was replaced with a dif one made by benelli. we were shooting 1oz and 1 1/8oz loads from it all day. idk what the problem witht he first action was. any way he bout it for 300. but he got a great discount considering they were both real good friends. i personally like that gun, and would consider buying one if i had the money. ill try and find out again what the deal was with the action.

Brandon's example is about pair for the couse with those. Once everything is fixed its a good gun...but who wants to buy a gun that you are going to have to turn around to get it fixed before it works like it should? There are also guys that are lucky and the get one that works like it should...but WAY too many people have this same story.

Thought about getting one a while back but read so many mixed reviews I decided not too. Too many poeple have had problems with them. At bass pro in San Antonio they had about 4 of these in the used gun section.
