Would like to have a 12v power source in the blind for phone/iPad and AA battery charging. I guess I'll ask if a feeder battery/solar panel would work but tend think they would be too small? If so and I need a 12v car battery what's a good panel-controller to get?
Thanks, Charlie

Just get a portable charging unit. I can recharge my phone 2-3 times on it.

I bought a deep cycle battery and an inverter. Been meaning to build or buy a battery box with hook ups. Plus solar panel/charge regulator.
Check out some of the battery boxes on youtube.....

I suggest a 12-volt vehicle battery and solar charger as well to eliminate the need to recharge a portable battery refresh pack. Even a small lawn tractor battery would hold a lot of amp hours for recharging mobile devices. Just add a dual cigarette lighter receptacle and device charging cords and you're good to go.
A car battery would make it possible to power an DC to AC converter and run small equipment as well.

Thanks, Charlie I keep a dark energy charger in my pack. I normally get 4 charges off it. It's What I use also in the back country.

Thanks for the responses. I have several portable charger devices of varying size that would work for anything 12v. My primary objective is to have something that lives in the stand, I have enough crap to tote back and forth and seems I always forget something... This seems like a pretty decent deal for panel/controller from a good company. Battery Tender link With this, I could add an inverter later I guess for anything 110v. Charlie

If it's 5 watts or less, you won't need a charge controller. I've got a 5 watt solar panel and an old car battery in my blind that I've been using a couple years now without issue.
I also have a 30 watt panel with a Battery Tender charge controller to run a wireless surveillance camera in the pig trap outside camp. The camera is on a dusk/dawn switch and has been running every night over a year now without a problem.
Inverters pull a fairly large amount of power, 5 watts won't make up the difference after a long weekend. You'll want something bigger if you go that route.

I pig hunt and deer hunt from the same bind
I have a 25 watt solar panel, two 7 amp/hr batteries, and a charge regulator for my blind. I have a strip of red leds in the bind, a pair of IR floodlights on the outside, a USB charger, and a quiet 12 volt fan. It has made a world of difference, particularly for the long nights waiting for the pigs to show up
We all need to practice Whoa more.
