Anyone have any connections for a non guided day lease in Texas? Having trouble getting a lease locked down and thinking about saying the heck with it and just go to a couple of friends leases and maybe a couple of trips to day leases if I could find one or two.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

They are tough to find in my area.

try Craigslist, also there may be a Facebook group specific to Texas Quail Hunting that may offer such things.

West and n texas seem to have them when I looked before, South Texas, not so much.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

I've had a hard time finding non-guided day hunts as well. Most of what I find are canned hunts I'm with you on the lease. I try every year to find an after deer lease but haven't had any luck unless I can find enough people to make up $16k. I know where there is 6400 acres at $2.50 per. Sounds steep to me for a half season, but that may be why I can't find a lease
Hunt 'em if you got 'em! They may not be here next year!

Depending on the location and from I have heard from old time quail hunters you should put 6 hunters on that 6400 acres. That would be $2667. a gun. See if you can start on the 15 of Dec. The last after deer season lease I was on the deer hunters were few and far between that far into the season and the manager or the deer hunters had no problem with it.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Unless you are absolute bird killers, 10 or more could be on it, just not at the same time. That's my opinion though. It would have to be that many to get the cost down to where I consider it worthwhile. I haven't gone into detailed discussions with him, but he stated it was half season which to me means end of regular deer. Still, I might get 4 hunts out of it. Depending on the cover, they might be 2 day hunts. So 8 days at $2667 would be $333/day. In my opinion, $2.50/acre is too much for half season. He is looking for a long term group, but I can't pull that at that price

There is guy on here leasing close to 11,000 acres for .75 cents an acres for the entire season. I went and looked at it last year and there were lots of birds on it....but its 30 or 40 miles west of Channing and pretty much all blues...I guess it just depends on what kind of hunting you're looking for. It was a nice place. He is including his house in the lease this year. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I'll do day leases. $225/day. You simply won't find higher concentrations, though they are mostly blues. After deer season.

Can you do a fully guided hunt for 4-6 hunters. If fully guided means with dogs no. If fully guided means I take y'all around, yes. Price goes up with that to 250/hunter on larger groups. 275 for 2 or less. I'm a pretty sob and my late mom wouldn't want me to just give away that valuable time with me...
