Man, the gun shows are really going down hill, very small crowd, lots of sellers not many buyers. I spoke with a few guys who are big and been at Market Hall for years, they say, there are so many gun shows everywhere now , people wont travel. Most vendors have more in their guns now than they can sell them for.
Tons of semi auto handguns and AR's. allot of Smith and Wesson revolvers and Pythons still WAY over priced but cheaper than a year ago.
still allot of over priced old guns.
I look for these guys to soon decide to sell out at a loss and give this hobby up.
I did buy a Remington 1100 20 gauge, left handed for my daughter. It needs a ton of TLC, metal is bad, some rust and pits. Good project gun for me to mess with...I gave $300 for it.

Most have turned into trinket shows. Impulse buyers are about their only salvation. People milling around like zombies.
One shot is all it should take.

Gun shows used to be good back in the day. The tacticool craze has killed most of them.
Wanamaker (sp?) in Tulsa is still a great one.

I was there today
I'm seeing what you're seeing. Lots of low quality crap and sorry fake custom Damascus knives everywhere. These old men who were strong in the gun show life at one time need to realize nobody wants their old extremly over priced crap.
The best part of the show was the strong comeback of the mullet. There were some epic ones walking around

Never been to a gun show seems like a huge waste of time Last time I went to one was about 4 years ago....specifically went to look at gun safes....wanted to talk to several vendors in one place...."Why is yours better that the other guys?" kind of interaction. For me it was very productive....I ended up ordering two safes from that show. Also got to meet Tim "Chops" Lambkin for the first time....ended up buying four knives from him over the next few months..... Way too much junk (non gun/hunting stuff) IMO....was good to see what the market for guns was....a little over priced IMO...but Obama was still pres.....

Lots of people bought a bunch of guns during the Obama/Hillary scares. Now they are sitting on large inventories but refuse to recognize that supply has outpaced demand. This is America, buy all the guns you want and charge whatever price you choose to ask when you sell them but don't be surprised if you don't get your asking price. My biggest gripe with the gun shows is the large amount of non-gun junk being sold at the shows usually by overzealous salesmen. I don't care if you've made the best metal polish in history out of some mysterious substance you discovered during your journey through the Amazon. I'm here to look at and buy guns.

I haven't been to one in a few years but they are a great place to see all (or damn near) of your options under one roof. Shopping the internet has it's downside to me and that's the lack of physical product to see and hold.

"people" have bought tons of CRAP, optics, cases, packs, knives, thermal, just cheap crap from some tiny 3rd world island somewhere. Who would buy that junk is beyond me, I guess the tacticool culture. Tacticool is ok, just don't be tacticheap.

I used to go to the big San Antonio show put on by Saxet 4 or 5 times a year. It was pretty good up until about 2 years ago, and then it started to turn into a large garage sale! More and more non-gun vendors and merchandise; fewer and fewer gun tables. Black rifle accessories were huge for about 18 months, but that market appears to be saturated. Last time I went was in December of last year, and decided that an annual visit was about all I needed. The smaller shows, in Kerrville and Fredericksburg are better, but even they are experiencing "trinket creep." As mentioned by another poster, the main value of a gun show nowadays seems to be the chance to actually lay hands on a firearm you're thinking of buying; or, in some cases, find a pound or two of powder, or a bunch of primers without having to pay full HAZMAT freight for them.

I went to the show this morning, man what a disappointment. I got there at 9 am when it opened, absolutely no line... used to be la line out the door, down the sidewalk, and out into the street. Many vendors didn't even show up and "open" their tables until close to 10. Just had a overall feeling of lack of care, lack of wanting to be there at all. Didn't witness a single sale on any firearm in the 2 hours I was there. Really sad to see it have declined so much.
Online sales have killed the local markets it seems.

Haven't been to a gun show in over 3 years, For years I would do 10 or more a year, and found some great deals in the past. Some of my favorite guns I picked up at Mesquite and Market Hall shows but that was 7 to 20 or so years ago.

We went to the GS in Allen earlier this month. Pathetic. Done with these. If I need cheap jewelry there's a Walmart on every corner.

would have bought one but I got plenty Was it being sold by Southwest Ammunition? I picked up one at $185 on Saturday from their store in Mesquite. Was shocked they had any in stock and even more shocked that they had it on sale. I don't even have dies, bullets, or primers for 6.5CM, but I had to grab some powder at that price for an 8 pounder. I enjoy going to gun shows to look around. It's a nice weekend getaway for a few hours. But I hardly buy anything there anymore. Priced too high.

Highly recommend Southwest Ammunition in downtown old Mesquite. Best place to buy in DFW area and way beyond.
One shot is all it should take.

People still go to gun shows? Southwest Ammunition....I'd swap powder before I'd buy something from that place. Arrogant, old, grumpy guy pissed me off first time in there and I won't go back if they were the only source of anything.
