Looking to hunt hogs in California after the new year. Recommendations? Don't want any fenced options and not looking to spend a million on a pig hunt.
Anyone know if there's any crazy headaches with bringing Rifle into Cali?

No NV or Thermal and no mag's over 10 rounds? Not 100% on that but it's pretty restrictive.

Got friends that have hunted CA pigs for years and finally went with me in Texas as they got priced out. Hope you do better. Watch out for and check gun regs for CA before you go. They get nasty if you screw up

California hog hunting is a nightmare. The state is looking to make money out of it, and is so restrictive it's absurd. You basically pay them for a tag, and are required to take anything you shoot....meaning you shoot a stinky old boar, you are required to take it home with you and do something with it. I have no idea what they do with something that is not even edible! No night hunting with firearms, no baiting, and lots of wardens to try and find a way to write you a ticket.

On the other hand, 15 people will help you apply for welfare and you don't need an ID to receive it.

I mean, the welfare sounds nice...
Best i can tell its ~$200 for license and $75for pig tag. My thought is that it'll only get worst so if going to do it nows the time. I want hunt all the pig states otherwise i wouldnt step foot in cali. Plan to bring a bolt rifle anyhow and from what i see the only other limit is no lead bullets.
Seeing around $700 for one hog with primitive lodging. Not ideal but with the cost of every damn thing in California i guess it makes sense.

I've shot a good amount of hogs out there when I was going to school. Where exactly are you going? You can prob guess it does not compare to the hunting out here. With that being said I have hunted some good areas in their BLM or national parks and all through Northern CA. They have some great duck hunting out there though.

Can be pretty expensive to hunt, it's private land. Southern California you got Ft tejon which will cost some money. Lots of hogs in central California. Fort Hunter ligget is free sort of...its been a while since I've hunted ligget so you would have to check out their web site. Hope this little info gives you a direction to look.

If you don't want a "stinky" boar then don't shoot one. They all smell like hogs on the outside and taste delicious on the inside.

All delicious on the inside? Some folks have some strange tastes I guess. When you start to cook something in your kitchen and you can't stand the smell of it...something is definitely wrong. There is a reason boars and altered when being raised domestically, and it isn't all about growth, it's about making the meat palatable. Coyotes and buzzards appreciate you leaving some for them and lowering the feral hog numbers is a good thing for a lot of people.

I've eaten them from 3 pounds to 300 and I've never had one stink up the kitchen. You may handle it different or something.

Some on here confuse hunting with eradication work, legal with morality. If you don't agree with their views or have sufficient time and posts you're being disrespectful.
