Hello All,

I'll introduce myself and state my case; I'm twenty-seven year old husband and father to a three year old little girl. Before getting married, I hunted exclusively with my dad and consider myself to have been taught by a master hunter. I was transplanted to Louisiana a few years ago and that move has made it difficult to keep an eye out for leases in Texas.

I'm looking to find anyone on this board who may already be in a hunting group or know of anyone with 4-8 guns on an annual lease in or around the hill country of Texas that has a slot open for another gun. I'm looking specifically for whitetail. Turkey and exotics would be nice but aren't a requirement.

I'm not a heavy drinker, I don't smoke and I pick up after myself. I will chip in with feed prices, groceries and any other community expenses. I will be happy to help out with cooking at the camp. I'd rather watch younger deer grow older and then take a shot at them once they're mature and I would prefer to hunt with people that are like-minded in that manner.

Thanks for any guidance ya'll can give me.

Jason

Hello Terron, if you here of anything affordable with-in a $1500 budget and with-in 200 miles of Corpus, please let me know. I'm in the same situation. I'm from Texas, in the Coast Guard and left Alabama to come home. Price is insane here. Not used to it. Good luck to you.

hey terron. my name is frank and my father, his 2nd cousin and myself are on a 6 gun lease and as far as i know we only have 3 guns paying thus far. our lease is in Polk county, 133 acres, wooded, creeks, camp house, no electricity or running water, but we do split gas for a generator, propane for the stove and heaters and we all try to bring up clean water to drink and bathe with. we only pay $350 per year and a guest is allowed after the 1st 2 weeks of the season. the deer limit is 2 bucks, 2 doe, unlimited hogs and we even have seen some bobcat, coyote and turkey here. i will contact my dad to make sure we can fill some more spots. we have a 60hp tractor as well, but i am in the process of getting the hydraulic steering arm off and having a new seal put in. the deer here are smart and fun to hunt. we have many spots that are awesome locations including about 30 acres across a creek that no one hunts cause they never built a bridge across it after the 1st one fell. lol. i do hunt it a couple times a year and even have a newish box stand there. feel free to call me at 936-465-7022.

Had an opportunity that didn't work out so I am still looking for a year-round lease. I appreciate any tips or leads.

To sum up my original post, I'm 28 and looking to join an existing lease. I don't do a whole lot of shooting, just there to enjoy the outdoors and shootin the bull with others. I live on the far southeast side of Louisiana so I am trying to avoid a drive longer than 11 hours, but will take a serious look if nothing else becomes available.

I can pay up to $1500/yr and am looking for 600+ acres on a 4-6 man, year-round lease.

shameless bump

does anyone know of other places where other groups might post their need for additional hunters online since no one else here needs another hunter? i did a lot of google searching but can only find pay-for sites.. and I would be content with that except you don't know how out-of-date the listings are and most of them are $35+

I had another THF member tell me about bear creek.. the problem with them is that I don't have a travel trailer and really can't afford that right now.

3Point looked pretty good except for the requirement to feed protein and have a food plot at my feeder and keep that going by myself throughout the year.

Thanks for the tip anyway

Those are the only two clubs I would hunt in East Texas Rifleman. Bear Creek or 3 Point Hunting club. Both clubs seems pretty friendly with one another from what I could tell. I know that when I was on 3 Point, the officials would suggest Bear Creek when a person was looking for a lease that wasn't MLD3. I checked into Buck Daddy and they seemed okay, but they had more members than Bear creek and half the amount of land.

There is also Crumplehorn Hunting Club which is fairly large & I use to live in a subdivision where my 3 lots backed up to their property & I know there are some very nice whitetail on there! We actually watched a 14 point 5+ year old buck walk across my yard one afternoon right off their place! I think they charge around $1,000 per gun, but it may be slightly higher now! I apologize that I do not have a contact number for them!
