I just took my new Glock 17 to the range to shoot it for the first time. Half way throught th first magazine I had a round lodge before it was fully chambered. The gunsmith at the range got it out for me and told me the round had a bulge in it. I have about35 rounds of this ammo from Dallas Reloading supply. Is this probably a one time deal or should I not shoot the rest of this ammo. I have had nothing but good luck with this company using their .223 reloads in my AR. Maybe a fluke? Opinions/ Advice? Thanks, Eric

Are they lead bullets? I had trouble with my Glock 30 when loading lead bullets. I was not seating the bullets deep enough. Changed the seating depth and they feed fine. They may have not seated that bullet deep enough.

NO NO NO NO NO! Don't use cast bullets in a Glock. The polygonal rifling retains lead and dramatically increases pressure after only a few rounds. There have been several reports of really big booms from people loading cast bullets in Glocks. You can buy replacement barrels that are conventionally rifled which are safe for cast bullets.

I hear you! I should have been more specific. The cast bullets I use have a hard coating that keeps the lead out of the rifling. I have fired a few hundred rounds with no lead buildup or loss of accuracy. When I first tried them I went through 200 rounds the first day without cleaning to make sure. I would inspect the barrel every 5th shot or so.

Whew, just wanted to make sure. I didn't know it and shot a few, but luckily nothing happened. There are lots of folks that don't know about the Glock/cast bullet relationship...

The loads I was shooting were FMJ. I think it might have just been a bad round, but that bag of ammo went into the back-up/shtf pile.

Your SHTF pile should be the most reliable you can get IMO.

Yes, the s that is htf should not be your ammo. That's an investment sir. My range bag is full of all different kinds of crap that may or may not go boom, but my shtf bag has brand new stock Winchester Supreme Elite and a lot of it. I know it will boom every single time...

Field strip your Glock and remove the barrel. Get the box of suspect ammo and drop each round into the barrel to check for bulged cases. Shan't take long.

My pleasure, I had to do this several years ago with suspect .45 acp. It's a fairly quick way to find the out of spec rounds.
